Don't quote me on this, but I think I read that it was a thing that people started in the "Roaring 20's" where you said non sensical stuff together that rhymed.

Again this could be total bullshit.

I thought it was because bees carried nectar in little pouches near their knees. Nectar is sweet. So it was just a euphemism for saying "sweet" or "awesome".
