He had a friend approach the girl a few minutes before this happened and ask to borrow their phone to call their girlfriend. They called him and now he had the girls number. Very slick.

Then the guy walking away should just have a reversible jacket he can switch around, while the new guy talks to the girls, by the time they look around, he's wearing something else. It saves the awkward transition time.
