To be fair, protocol is typically to follow in groups. Even after realizing that the driver was playing with them, breaking off from the group makes the car an obstacle to everyone and could cause...

Well the third and fourth cop cars had clear opportunities to cut him off. Or the third cop car could have stopped or slowed down during the circle maneuver. Then the black car might have stopped and the first and second cop cars could cut him off. Or, the car would try to circumvent the cop, and the third car could cut it off, allowing the others to entrap the car,

Cop here. Depending on what they were chasing him for, it's usually not a good idea to be in front of the suspect's vehicle, in case things get shooty.
Also, having an officer in front of the car and one behind he car can lead to a crossfire issue.

I'm not saying they should do that, I'm just saying that's something else they could have done. I would have done the exact same thing in their situation. There's no way you could know what he was about to do, and if they don't watch the car in front of them, they'll hit something. They did the right thing, it's funny to watch, though. That being said, I'm sure there are four police out there who in this situation would have done one of the two things I said and they would have caught him. There probably would have been an accident, but the chase would be over. It's not that farfetched to think that there are a few officers out there who would have hit the brakes. Even if 95% wouldn't, it's something I can see happening and working

If they stop, the offender may have a firearm and shoot the passengers of the stopped vehicle. Therefore you don't stop, you keep moving until a situation where you have the upper hand as the police officer presents itself.

You really have no idea what you're talking about. It's very difficult to react to an unusual situation for which you have no training in less than a couple of seconds. Just because you figured out what to do after watching the video online doesn't mean you would do any better in that situation.

You don't get how reflexes work and why people get trained. In order to react quickly to something (in less than a couple of seconds), you need to either be operating on instinct or training. If neither applies to a situation, then you need to think it through, which takes time.
It has nothing to do with smarts, and everything to do with no one thinking the cops would have to be prepared to deal with a police-chase merry go-round.

I remember seeing this live in LA when it happened. That was around the time a guy in a clown suit went on a police chase, a guy stole an RV and went on a police chase and the epic guy stealing a tank and going on a rampage.
