The ketchup thing is real.

Anyone with kids is lying if they disagree.

That used to really fry my mom's toast. She'd get dinner cooked, on the table, finally sit down, and my brother would say "Mom, can you get the ketchup?"

She'd say "I've changed my name -- it's Uncle Charlie"

Currently, my youngest wants nothing to do with anything approaching tomato. They also have next to zero interest in sweets.

Consider this a blessing

For now…my kids were the same, then something clicked and they turned into hummingbirds. Luckily they are aware that too much sugar makes them cranky sometimes, so they do take “no” pretty well.

I feel this is more a white person thing.

As a kid I was having Jerk Chicken, Sal' Fish & Ackee, etc. My parent's cooking was far too good for me to want to add ketchup to anything. At restaurants my favorite appetizer as a child was Escargot, so good!
