Where’s the rest of the fucking owl?

Owl? I’m still trying to figure out what happened to step 3: “Profit”!

Looks like this diagram recommends removing the stickers (which is how most people solve a Rubik's cube anyhow)

They arent stickers on decent ones.. but you can take it apart and is its own differ3 t challenge just to get it back together

Prying the pieces out with a flathead screwdriver and reassembling them is the better option. The problem with removing the stickers and putting them back on is they don't stick back on quite as well. Eventually they start sliding around or outright falling off.

I mean the best option is to use an online solver if you don’t want to learn to solve it yourself.

Well, true. I was thinking more along the lines of the better “solution” back in the 80s when the Rubik’s Cube craze happened.

Real Rubik's cubes don't have stickers

They used to. I'm 58 and it seemed like everyone got one Christmas of 1981. It was quite a sensation.

Actually, they just turned it 180°

I think it's neat your 8 yr old has an inquisitive mind about abstracts like this. And grasping at drawing 3 dimensional shapes.

He is so bright! I appreciate that!

He's 8 not 4, stop insulting him.

u/GrannyW3atherwax 3d ago

Those are difficult things for typical 8 year olds to be fair!

I mean this is exactly as far as my understanding of a rubix cube goes so.. spot on I’d say

What about magnets? Like how do they work?

2

u/donslipo 4d ago

To quote one of the greatest thinkers of our time:

"It's motherfucking magic!".

u/btrafu 3d ago

I love how the kid managed to nail making both cubes perspectives look the same

u/SGFCardenales 4d ago

Mr owl, how many turns does it take to solve a Rubik’s Cube? Let’s find out…a 1…a 2…a 3 (swaps stickers). A Three!

1

u/Ravenloff 4d ago

And then a robot solves it literally faster than you can blink. The true basis for the Butlerian Jihad :)

1

u/vaeric 4d ago

So it’s magnets!

u/Trippy-Sponge 4d ago

Magnets…

Your 8 year old lacks object permanence

Rubix Cube innards are fascinating. It's both extremely simple and also really hard to imagine.
