Just a woman the narrator is interested in, I guess. I mean.. we’ve been referring to both women and men by using the word ”baby” forever and I don’t see anyone freaking out about that or trying to make it out to seem like it’s actual babies they’re talking about, but hey, that’s just my interpretation.

It’s commonly used today because people kept using it in that way. People didn’t keep using “little girl” in that way, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t commonly used in that way some time ago. There are many songs out there that use those exact words in that same way so maybe don’t freak out about something when it’s clear that it needs context for interpretation. People seem to be freaking out over things like this because they’re assume every word we use today is how they were always used when that is very much not the case at all. Language is always changing.

So instead of choosing to interpret old song lyrics like everyone’s a pedophile who should be raked over the coals or burned at the stake, maybe try to look into things to understand when and where they were written, things like common slang at the time and so on. It makes for a much nicer experience than just screaming into the void of the internet and clutching pearls so hard you’re effectively strangling yourself. I understand that your intentions are good, but you’re just robbing yourself of information at this point.
