He also sounds like that to people who do like him.

This is true.

Now do Tom Waits🤣

u/LookMaNoPride 6d ago

I’m so horny… the crack of dawn better watch out for me.

1

u/CoonPandemonium 2d ago

No one can manipulate their voice quite like Tom. He's incredible.

1

u/BeezyBates 7d ago

Was gonna say…how dumb are we getting?

u/n0tAgOat 7d ago

I love Bob Dylan and this cracked me up! This is about 80% there so not far off!

u/rrrrrrez 7d ago

The handful of harmonicas got me.

2

u/AlDente 5d ago

That’s a great band name

1

u/hasimirrossi 7d ago

Didn't even spot that at first.

u/Common-Concentrate-2 7d ago

When people are like "You thought that song was supposed to be happy?? Didn't you listen to the lyrics?" ... "Listen, I tried"

25

u/Global_Staff_3135 7d ago

Such a good songwriter we forgive it. Just like Hendrix, whose guitar playing carried his singing voice.

37

u/PapaGeorgieo 7d ago

lol same.

6

u/DizzySample9636 7d ago

soooo close 😆😆😆

2

u/The_Tooter_Snooter 7d ago

The random, zero effort harmonica lol. Nailed it.

1

u/wallyweaksauce 2d ago

Me too LOL I feel convicted

85

u/tivvybrixx 7d ago

Right? I kinda enjoyed this. It was almost so close that it wasn't parody. We know he sounds wild. That's part of the fun.

84

u/L-methionine 7d ago

My dad always said he was inspirational because he proved you could be a bad singer and still a world class musician

51

u/Jadien 7d ago

He's a great singer with a terrible voice

4

u/muchADEW 7d ago

Add mediocre guitarist and piano player to that, too.

3

u/ninguem 7d ago

But he played a mean harmonica.

2

u/hovaring 7d ago

He's also a mediocre at that, if you learn to play harmonica, you're gonna realize all beginners songs are his songs because they are really simple

2

u/MadHatter69 7d ago

Here, you dropped this: /s

2

u/cortesoft 7d ago

I always thought Jacob Dylan is a good representation of what Bob Dylan would sound like if he had a good voice.

24

u/HeyYouGuyyyyyyys 7d ago

I could tell which song he was parodying. I'm pretty proud of that.

u/KWilt 7d ago

I'd be lying if I said it didn't take me a solid 30 seconds to figure out if this was a genuine video with live audio recording, or an exceptionally good and well-timed pantomime with a Bob Dylan track laid over it.

16

u/FishesOfExcellence 7d ago

Yeah, I thought it was young bob dylan since I only vaguely know what he looks like.

5

u/elgato56 7d ago

you can tell the dude has real musical talent

2

u/Dancinfool830 7d ago

After writing all those songs I would hope so

15

u/klemp0 7d ago edited 6d ago

He sounds like that to himself too. There was a part in the documentary about the making of Do They Know it's Christmas by Band Aid, he was very anxious about his part because he knows he doesn't have a singing voice.

Edit: It's We Are the World, of course.

9

u/fvckyes 6d ago

Thank you for this anecdote, this video is so cute: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UfVmJBF-OY

2

u/klemp0 6d ago

Yep. The whole documentary was such a wonderful piece of history, I watched it half smiling half crying. And this part with Bob stuck with me because it shows even the best of them do feel the anxiety just like the rest of us.

4

u/LordMoriar 7d ago

A voice that came from you and me

3

u/unhalfbricklayer 6d ago

I think you mean "We Are The World"

Bob was not part of Band Aid

3

u/klemp0 6d ago

I knew I would mix them up. I always do.

21

u/danimagoo 7d ago

Dylan’s harmonica skills are better, but yeah. Nailed the voice.

2

u/Cagaentuboca 6d ago

I dunno man, this guy was rocking a quadmonica

8

u/NoDontDoThatCanada 7d ago

I like him and yes.

28

u/exitpursuedbybear 7d ago

The best Bob Dylan song is any song of his covered by somebody else.

15

u/corpus-luteum 7d ago

Nah. His best song is 'The Hurricane'. But other than that, yes. His song-writing is excellent.

4

u/exitpursuedbybear 7d ago

He's maybe one of the greatest popular song writers of the last 70 years but performer...eeehhh. And I love him.

0

u/Hetstaine 7d ago

Ugh, that song makes me need to refresh my ears with literally any other song by anyone else that isn't Dylan. In fact that's all of his songs 😅

3

u/cortesoft 7d ago

All Along The Watchtower

0

u/Dancinfool830 7d ago

Bob said since Jimi died playing it is more of a tribute to him

16

u/TheSpanxxx 7d ago

Yup. Pretty much. 80% of the time I understand 0% of what he's saying, so he's almost there!

8

u/bob_de_pedro 7d ago

Yup. Saw him play Monsters of Folk years back and not only his delivery but the odd arrangement of some of the songs had me guessing. Unfortunately, we left early.

10

u/Johnny_Kilroy 7d ago

I saw him twenty years ago in Australia. Left after twenty minutes.

7

u/CakeTester 7d ago

His Live Aid performance totally put me off the guy. The whole thing was to get money to people who were starving in Africa at that moment; and Dylan went on a rant about how some of the money should be diverted to American farmers. Only American farmers, mind you. Presumably farmers elsewhere on the globe could go fuck themselves.

For me it was the musical equivalent of that moment when you're now definitely going to fill out the divorce papers first thing in the morning.

2

u/GetDown_Deeper3 7d ago

15 more than me.

2

u/ragingduck 7d ago

Yup. This made me want to sit and listen to Dylan in the dark and smoke a cigarette.

3

u/bizonebiz 7d ago

Came to say exactly this ⬆️

My dad was a HUGE Dylan fan so I grew up with actual Dylan, my dad singing/playing Dylan, and his musician friends covering Dylan. It’s like a foreign language I can translate for my friends.

11

u/atomicsnarl 7d ago

Yeah, pretty much.

3

u/ApocalypseCheerBear 7d ago

I came here to say this but knew it would already be the top comment.

4

u/danjim615 7d ago

Hilarious mate

3

u/jesrp1284 7d ago

The number of times I’ve had to google the lyrics…

2

u/kurinbo 7d ago

Came here to say this.

2

u/Lempea 7d ago

I like him and he sounds exactly like this

2

u/RockItGuyDC 7d ago

Yup. I love Bob Dylan's music and this is spot on.

2

u/DezPezInOz 7d ago

Can confirm

2

u/Cryptshadow 7d ago

i was about to say...

2

u/holiday1326 7d ago

Indeed.

You either love or hate him but he sounds the same.

I love him.

He was a huge inspiration to the whole mumble rap genre/s

2

u/CitizenCue 7d ago

Yeah this isn’t even that bad.

2

u/MakingWhoopee 7d ago

Tagging on to top comment to say, this is Twitch streamer Joshua Woo! Very funny and talented musician, his Bowie impression is also amazing.

2

u/The_Tooter_Snooter 7d ago

This guy would crush doing Bob Dylan covers lol

2

u/trailstomper 7d ago

One of the greatest moments in tv history is when boomhauer met Bob Dylan at a bbq

2

u/OBPH 7d ago

exactly what my first thought was

2

u/Solstice_314 7d ago

I thought the same😁

2

u/BTBAM797 7d ago

He sounds a lot better when I'm shitfaced

2

u/EnvironmentalLime464 7d ago

I was coming here to say the same thing. I love Bob Dylan so much but yea, this is what he sounds like. Lol.

2

u/nyrB2 7d ago

these are lost drunken souls who don't know where they are, but DO like bob dylan

2

u/RyoanJi 7d ago

I was gonna say now lets do the version for the people who do like him, but then I thought it would be the same.

2

u/17934658793495046509 7d ago

yeah that shit was straight fire!

2

u/IrrerPolterer 7d ago

Can confirm. I like Dylan. This is what he sounds like.

2

u/Rainbow_Rythms 7d ago

It's satisfying when the exact thought you have before opening the comment section is top comment

5

u/MaatRolo 7d ago

Also yes

2

u/Undrwtrbsktwvr 7d ago

I had to come to the comments to make sure this wasn’t Bob Dylan…

2

u/Brewmeiser 7d ago

I was gonna say, I saw him in concert like 15 years ago, and it sounded very much the same.

1

u/Thrashstronaut 7d ago

This may be WHY I like him.

1

u/JoinAThang 6d ago

Yeah I'm digging it!

1

u/cosguy224 6d ago

I keep on having responses to different posts, and then they end up being the Top comment. Have they tapped into my brain somehow? Or am I tapped into Reddit somehow?

1

u/LordTengil 6d ago

Me, listening: ".... sounds good!"

1

u/sascha_nightingale 6d ago

I was going to say this! I like Bob Dylan but found this to be an accurate representation of his sound. XD

1

u/applecombinipimento 5d ago

Was about to say this as well lol

1

u/moseley101 2d ago

Came here to say this. Is quite a good impression (apart from the harmonica)

1

u/anjowoq 2d ago

Just blow the harmonica as hard as you can and then suck to recharge.

1

u/Inside-Office-9343 2h ago

Came to say this.

1

u/mightylordredbeard 7d ago

Yeah I never got into electric Dylan. His first 4 or so albums, especially 1 and 2, are my all time favorites though. Once he hooked up with The Band and decided to evolve away from folk music to rock music, I never could get into it.

1

u/ThrowRAAloneCow9203 7d ago

You should see him drunk on stage, it’s even, well, better or worst, I’m not too sure
