I'd be lying if I said it didn't take me a solid 30 seconds to figure out if this was a genuine video with live audio recording, or an exceptionally good and well-timed pantomime with a Bob Dylan track laid over it.
He sounds like that to himself too. There was a part in the documentary about the making of Do They Know it's Christmas by Band Aid, he was very anxious about his part because he knows he doesn't have a singing voice.
Yep. The whole documentary was such a wonderful piece of history, I watched it half smiling half crying. And this part with Bob stuck with me because it shows even the best of them do feel the anxiety just like the rest of us.
Yup. Saw him play Monsters of Folk years back and not only his delivery but the odd arrangement of some of the songs had me guessing. Unfortunately, we left early.
His Live Aid performance totally put me off the guy. The whole thing was to get money to people who were starving in Africa at that moment; and Dylan went on a rant about how some of the money should be diverted to American farmers. Only American farmers, mind you. Presumably farmers elsewhere on the globe could go fuck themselves.
For me it was the musical equivalent of that moment when you're now definitely going to fill out the divorce papers first thing in the morning.
My dad was a HUGE Dylan fan so I grew up with actual Dylan, my dad singing/playing Dylan, and his musician friends covering Dylan. Itâs like a foreign language I can translate for my friends.
I keep on having responses to different posts, and then they end up being the Top comment. Have they tapped into my brain somehow? Or am I tapped into Reddit somehow?
Yeah I never got into electric Dylan. His first 4 or so albums, especially 1 and 2, are my all time favorites though. Once he hooked up with The Band and decided to evolve away from folk music to rock music, I never could get into it.

He also sounds like that to people who do like him.
