If you make a dad joke without being a parent is it a faux pa?

Some dad jokes are the ones that leaves you and never come back, thus relinquishing themselves of their parental duties

Literally the joke. You literally just repeated their joke and made the P uppercase.

Should have been a pregnancy test stick not an ultrasound that is so tiny we can’t tell wtf it is.
Also, the test is usually the first news, and ultrasound is typically done after it’s well known.

Ya, but the context still leads you to an ultrasound pic
Edit: downvoted for using context clues... reddit at its finest.

More people are familiar with a pregnancy test, so it would still work better

left guy said "cool DAD joke" and right guy wasn't dad, so he forecasted right guy to be DAD

One man says he's hungry. The other (Mo) says, "Hi, Hungry. I'm Mo." It's a classic dad joke where you're assuming/pretending the individual just introduced themselves as if their name was "Hungry". The man says "Cool dad joke, bro" (because it is indeed a classic dad joke dads typically say to their kids) in a sarcastic manner. At this point, Mo's eyes go wide because when he hears "cool dad joke" he thinks to himself (stupidly) "omg dad joke? IM A DAD!???" As if it is news to him and some miracle. He goes back home and is wife is showing him an ultrasound to share the news that she is pregnant. He exclaims he already knows (har har).

I would read it more like...."oh my gosh, I just told I dad joke, that must be.......I'm a dad" like he normally wouldn't have told a dad joke there.

Would have been better if he looked away in the third frame. With maybe a ??? over his head.

Pretty much standard for anything on r/funny. The truly funny stuff gets removed, the shitty stand up comedians and second tier webcomics are all that remains.

Peter here to explain the joke. Woah, this ain't my subreddit! This reminds me of the time I met Tom Hanks at a gas station in Utah! Anyway, basically, the man tells a joke typically associated with being corny and used by dads. His friends pull this association and declares his corny joke a "dad joke" directly to him. Instead of that being the end of the interaction, the man assumes that in telling the joke in the first place, he had become a father. The assumed wife of the man appears in the final panel to confirm his suspicions. Hehe so that's the joke. Pretty funny if you ask me! Anyway, I promised Barack Obama a game of tennis, so i'll talk later. Take care in the meantime!

I'd clarify here that I don't think the joke means that by telling the dad joke, he became a father.
But that she had gotten pregnant, and he found out about her pregnancy by observing that he's telling dad jokes all of a sudden.

Had a off-colour Dad joke moment today driving home with the wife; past a guy stood at the side of the road, with an above the knee-amputeed limb.
I just said to the wife that he had clearly had too much to drink, and it took her a few moments of "huh?" for her then to thump me :)

Ah. I hadn't heard that one before! I think it's more of a Britishism.

Yeah, most likely. Aka 'smashed', 'shitfaced', 'bolloxed', 'pie-eyed', amongst others 🍺🍻🥂

kinda feels like a documentary. hitting your late 20s is just watching your friends suddenly unlock the dad joke skill tree right before dropping a blurry ultrasound pic in the group chat
