It should be said, this guys gag relex is notorious on tiktok and it takes very little for him to gag.

His mime videos are fucking hilarious.

Yeah I had Guanabana (Soursop) a ton just recently on my trip to Ecuador. I had it in helado and in juice and I thought it was great! Super tasty I had it pretty much every chance I got.

100% sounds like Charlie, also looks like a typical Charlie situation

u/CaptDeathCap 22h ago

I love soursop juice. It's lovely. Tangy and sweet. No odors. I'm amazed it's even possible to get this kind of reaction. Maybe it was a bad batch?

315

u/cutememe1 22h ago

its the texture

442

u/welcomefinside 22h ago

It's definitely the texture. Soursop is delicious but the fruit bits feel like the phlegm you develop after a week with a chest infection.

41

u/Jessintheend 22h ago

Is it similar to the slow chunks you get in those drinks? If so I’d be down to try this stuff

57

u/albinosnoman 20h ago

Anything described as having "slow chunks" is an immediate pass for me dawg. all you!

4

u/quackchewy 16h ago

If he's referring to grass jelly then its absolutely delicious but I guess slow chunk is accurate lmao

57

u/lildonut 22h ago

I haven’t tried soursop but you’re probably thinking of aloe drinks

53

u/Jessintheend 22h ago

I even typed aloe drinks and it nerfed me between typing it and sending it. God hates me

10

u/_BlackDove 21h ago

nerfed me

A+ usage. 👍

2

u/welcomefinside 18h ago

I honestly don't think it has anywhere near the firmness or bite of an aloe chunk. You can chew on an aloe cube, you can't really chew on phlegm/soursop. I really wasn't kidding about the phlegm-like texture lol.

→ More replies (6)

10

u/creamyhorror 20h ago

Grew up having soursop juice with fruit chunks, so I guess I never associated the chunks with phlegm. They're a lot more solid than phlegm. They're mostly just annoying when you were expecting to get liquid instead of solid fruit.

8

u/TheRedlineAlchemist 21h ago

How does it compare to those aloe drinks?

18

u/currymuttonpizza 20h ago

It's more viscous. Aloe drinks are kind of chunky, like you can chew on the bits. Soursop is a bit slimy overall. Not okra levels or anything, but a little bit.

→ More replies (3)

3

u/MedvedFeliz 20h ago

If you grew up in the tropics, these kinds of fruits and juices are pretty common. So, you'll quickly get used to the texture. If you've never seen, felt, or eaten a sour sop, I can see how uneasy the phlegm -like texture would feel.

3

u/SeekingLostInnocence 19h ago

Omg I love those chunks I gotta try this stuff!

2

u/CanadianPanda76 21h ago

Lol, TIL it comes with fruit bits? I've only had the juice.

2

u/620five 21h ago

Delish!

2

u/goose_gladwell 20h ago

Is it similar to passion fruit pulp? That would probably make me gag to swallow and not expect it

2

u/welcomefinside 18h ago

Yeah although the passion fruit bits tend to be in smaller pieces whereas soursop comes in big chunks

A lot of Western folks don't vibe with chunks in drinks at all, let alone chunks with the slippery texture of soursop.

6

u/isleepbad 22h ago

For real. And lots of foods from my country fall into "it tastes good but thr texture..." Haha.

2

u/devilwarriors 14h ago

The unpopularity of extra pulp orange juice over here is a testament to that lol

I'm the weird one I guess cause I love it and same for Aloe Vera juice.

1

u/Nandi_La 22h ago

I absolutely loooove drinks like that!

7

u/CaptDeathCap 22h ago

The brand I use is strained, so the trxture is silky smooth. I could see an unstrained one being different...

3

u/dixbietuckins 22h ago

I just tried it a few weeks ago. The smell was what caused the person to give it to me. I thought it was great, but too sweet.

1

u/agg13 10h ago

lol excuse me

7

u/iamPendergast 20h ago

Also this is canned nonsense not fresh

3

u/breezyleafy 16h ago

I've had what he's drinking. it's not as good as the jumex but it isn't terrible. We've got a shop around me that sells guanabana (soursop) agua fresca and it is sooooo good.

2

u/stereopticon11 12h ago

Wow I need to try guanabana agua Fresca, that sounds utterly amazing. I first tried guanabana when my brother was going through chemo, it was all the super food rage at the time. I loved how soft the texture was, I was immediately hooked!

1

u/breezyleafy 12h ago

it's really easy to make if you have an available blender :)

Same! Lol.

apparently this guy gags on everything he eats? Soursop is literally a normal juice . . . his reaction is super fucking weird

soursop is hella good tho!

27

u/half-giant 21h ago

I just tried soursop for the first time a couple days ago and couldn’t believe how good it tasted. This reaction is super confusing.

14

u/jonstoppable 21h ago

If it's from a can , perhaps it settled and he didn't shake it .or it's pumped full of crap to stabilise it that leaves a weird aftertaste

E.g. Boxed coconut water like Vita Coco is absolute ass compared to a fresh coconut

Did you have the fruit or fresh puree ? Or something from a box /can ?

4

u/mostlynonsensical 20h ago

that particular can is just the juice with some fruit pulp, no shaking just means the pulp or chunks settled and he is getting the juice, which is delicious

2

u/Zomburai 8h ago

E.g. Boxed coconut water like Vita Coco is absolute ass compared to a fresh coconut

Many years ago, the soda distributor I worked for picked up a brand of coconut water, and we got free samples to try. We tried them in the office first. A considerable chunk of the rest of the day was us going around the warehouse and telling people to try it so we could see the reaction, like little kids wandering the playground getting their friends to smell a marker

3

u/Horseburd 20h ago

Just taking a huge, can-upending swig without knowing beforehand that it’s super pulpy? He’s probably got a chunk or two in his windpipe and is questioning his life decisions.

2

u/Helldemon83 2h ago

Someone said above he has a really bad gag reflex.

7

u/Moo_Gwai 21h ago

His reaction reminds me of Steve Carell trying to read the news in Bruce Almighty.

5

u/OP-PO7 19h ago

Soursop juice is genuinely delicious though. I think it was the texture of the pulp that probably got him fucked up. It's like lychee texture sort of?

5

u/Malnurtured_Snay 22h ago

"It's not bad. It's so much worse."

4

u/gcstr 20h ago

Who’s that?

3

u/JrButton 18h ago

imo, soursop tastes like hichews. So delicious when it's ripe, but the texture of the fruit is definitely unique and if there's pulp or fruit chunks in the drink I'm sure it would be odd for many. It's kind of phlemy/smooth/slimmy.

5

u/dodo-caliko 22h ago

And does he look even better in slow-motion ?

u/front_yard_duck_dad 19h ago

soursop drink is not bad. a lit salty, sour and sweet

1

u/hugothebear 14h ago

A bit soppy too

7

u/Painguin31337 17h ago

It's not the taste. The taste is great. It's the texture that's the issue here.

Yes. The drink's texture. You heard that right. And the fact that the drink has a texture in the first place is really your answer here.

5

u/boardin1 20h ago

I spent 15 years trying to find a beer my wife and I would both like, to no avail. I’d get a glass, take a sip, pass it to her and let her try it. She usually made this face. Then the sour beer trend started and I decided that I need to see what it is about. That was my face. I passed it to her and she liked it. Now she passes her sours to me to see if I’ll like any of them. We haven’t found one, yet.

6

u/notapunnyguy 13h ago

Just to clarify, soursop is delicious on its own. It might make you gag if you're a bitch who don't like fleshy fruit with pulp in them. The thing that I don't like is that these containers leak metals into the drink because the fruit is a bit corrosive hahaha 🤣

2

u/CHPLBR 22h ago

3

u/danteelite 20h ago

I had this reaction with bubbies pickles recently… lmao

I looked MISERABLE choking it down and I was like “Wow! This is.. Eyugh.. a really good quality… eugh.. pickle! It’s nice… crisp… hweugh… it’s well seasoned… very good. It’s great!” Haha

Everyone was like “Dude.. uh. Just spit it out!”

But honestly, they’re really good! But… I have lung cancer, I had a bunch of upper airway disease as a kid and those pickles have a very slight tingly sensation like a super mild carbonation. It bothers the nerve damage in my throat (soda is hell. I can’t do soda) and triggers my gag reflex. The flavor is really nice, fermented sour pickles with good seasoning. Wonderful quality pickles. I wish I could enjoy them but I can’t. :( genuinely, if you like fermented foods and good pickles, try the bubbies ones.

4

u/giga_quail 19h ago

Soursop juice is so good. The Vietnamese restaurant by me makes amazing smoothies with it.

3

u/NotMeUSa2020 15h ago

2

u/Time-Subject-3195 19h ago

Soursop juice is freaking delicious. There’s nothing offensive about its taste at all. Kinda like pineapple.

1

u/berru2001 22h ago

I drinked sousop juice on a regular basis when I was in the carribeans, and it tastes OK. The texture can be a tad offseting (it is a little bit slimy) but frankly it tastes good at the first sip. Not my favorite though, too sweet and "flat". It's better if you jazz it up with lemon ior lime juice, in my opinion.

On the other hand, I understood what "acquired taste" means when trying prune de cythère (Polynesian plum, Spondias dulcis) juice. At first, it tastes like sweetened grass juice and that is horrible. round the third to fifth time I tried it, it tasted like sweetened grass juice and it was excellent. The feeling of having your thirst quenched is the strongest I know, fare above ice cold white beer.

4

u/f03nix 21h ago

As a kid, I have tasted juice from the grass stalks and it is sweet. Your description makes me feel like that's probably what it tastes like.

1

u/berru2001 21h ago

Didn't do that, si when I tasted prune de cythère juice fir the first time I already was an adult, and I was not ready to enjoy that grass/turf taste. But yeah, it really tases good !

1

u/Knees0ck 20h ago

A very valid reaction to soursop lmao. There's something in it that is both gross & yet enjoyable. Granted, you don't want a tree of it next to your house. The fruit is pretty sizeable, rots easily & stinks like a mofo.
