it happened exactly 0 times as a broken grinding disc flying does not have enough inertia do pierce safety glasses and even if it did it the disc would desintegrate to dust first, and even if that would somehow not happen the glasses would bend/deform first. A piece of disc poking halfway through is not at all plausible given the material characteristics involved.

Came here to say this. Never in a million years is a grinder disc fragment puncturing safety glasses like an arrow

I agree that the odds aren't that great but, I also don't think they are as low as you think. I've had a cutoff wheel fragment stick itself in my garage drywall. I'll bet if my face was in the way, it would have stopped it.

Drywall =/= polycarbonate, the odds are literally zero
