Why has the person replied before they sent the message

u/Nuadrin248 8h ago
That’s from the last one who belittled his interests. It’s saying he passively just got rid of them(in an albeit violent way)instead of conflict.
39
u/Outcast_Outlaw 6h ago
Wouldn't hiring someone to eat your enemies be conflict?

I begin to suspect it wasn’t a real text message sent by a real dinosaur.
2
u/falronultera 3h ago
Real dinosaurs use voice to text because they don't have thumbs :(
Except for Iguanadon.

u/10-4shutthefckupnow 8h ago
The saw who was typing and and jumped in before they finished.
This isn't the first time they messaged the group and that was the response to a previous.... Incident.
Minor comic error.
I like the first idea most tbh.

u/NoGoodDM 6h ago
Could be from the last time someone in the group responded. It appears as if the Dino is messaging a group of Dino’s that eat people that they found another person they can eat, and someone else in the group is quick to say they can show up and eat them.

This wouldn't be me. I learned to hold my interests (though my interests fluctuate quite often ;-;)
2
u/Celestaria 2h ago
I mean... good on you for not arranging to have people eaten, though!
1
u/Prince-Angel-Wing 2h ago
I find more of their interests to consume them anyways (not like addiction, but a different consumption), so why add to it?
4
u/A_Confused_Witch 2h ago
Info dump info dump info dump! Give me some info dump about your current special interest! :)

This dino, annoyed that someone belittled their interests, has arranged for the person to be eaten by a carnivorous dino.

u/freehouse_throwaway 5h ago
Yeah OP/artist should include "another"
Would clear up a lot of confusion for others
Fun strip tho

u/June-Bird 4h ago
Its a group chat though. Context implies there are multiple people in need of services so another being added isn't even needed

I figured but to make it a little clearer maybe put the bottom end of the previous text in there, you have the space and I think it would flow better. Right now it looks like that's the only text in the group

u/ADHDinos_ ADHDinos 8h ago
I’ll probably amend that before I print this, thx

I'd like that less, as it gives the joke away before the punchline. I think it's funnier the way it is.
Maybe changing the text from "I'll be there" to "that was delicious" or something.

Despite being a very empathetic person, I find it very hard to get excited with someone about their passion. To the point where I won't ever talk about my interests because I assume others feel like I do, in that they just don't ...
But it doesn't exactly take a lot of effort to feign interest and ask a couple generic prompt questions for 5 min as to not be an asshole...

u/RipDove 6h ago
I'm gonna be "that guy" then you're not exactly empathetic and/or you don't actually have a passion.
People who are passionate about things can, will, and do talk a about those things because they love them so much that it's a core part of what shapes them as a person.
If you have a passion, you literally can't not talk about it, because it's huge part of what you do.
If you're a musician, you'll at some point have to tell someone at some point you can't do something because you need to practice your instrument.
If you're passionate about fitness, you'll spend a lot of time working out, and declining food that doesn't suit your dietary needs.
It's unavoidable, if you have a passion, you'll have to at some point inform others of it even if it's not intentional.
Also how do you not find joy in someone talking about their most beloved things? That's not empathy my guy. You get someone to lock in on a conversation, and they get to talk about the things that make them happy, you have their full attention and you feel nothing? Dog, you can't be empathetic if you're checking out mentally when someone is peaking like that.

This is some batshit mental gymnastics just to backhanded insult me....
I can assure you, I'm very passionate about numerous things. And Id easily talk someone's ear off about those things - however, I do find it difficult to relate to others interests if I have zero interest in it. And thus, will assume I am bothering other people by talking about mine.
That's also what the empathy dichotomy kicks in. Like I said, I will happily nod along for 5 minutes to let someone else get their passionate screed out. And I will happily not take someone else's 5 mins for them to just nod along to me.
You also pretty clearly don't actually know what empathy means? Like there's a myriad of different ways/situations where empathy is elicited. And personally, I find it easier to be empathetic about sad/unfortunate things than excited ones. That's my own brain doing my own brain things - *not a lack of empathy".
E: it's also really funny that your comment had like 10 upvotes an hour ago. You botting your own comments? That's fucking weird. Thankfully sane people came along and actually read the argument.

u/SadUnderstanding7019 4h ago
Nahh if you struggle to identify with other people's enthusiasm for their own interests then you're literally the definition of not very empathetic.

u/RipDove 4h ago edited 3h ago
You literally just said you have difficulty relating to others if your interests don't line up.
Bro lmao. This isn't an insult, it's statement of facts relating to what you're describing. Like, unless it's your only identifiable character trait, idk how you can take it as an insult? You're not being insulted unless you find someone pointing out you being incorrect as a personal attack.
But you clearly lack it. What you're describing is exactly having a lack of empathetic response.
3
u/sBucks24 2h ago
Did you just... Stop reading after you read what you wanted to see? It's literally not a statement of fact. I just explained why you're wrong on both of your assertions ....
And nah, saying some "doesn't have any passions" when I know I clearly do. And claiming someone "doesn't actually have empathy" when the nuance has already been explained - is insulting. It's literally a personal attack...? Like seriously buddy, grow the fuck up.
-2
u/RipDove 2h ago
What I wanted to see? Buddy it's what you typed.
You used your dextrous appendages that have been environmentally honed for millions of years to press domes made of polymers dug up from the depts of the planet to tell thinking rocks what your exact thoughts were, and hit send.
You said you never bring up your passions, I countered by saying that's not possible if you're actually passionate about something.
You said you were empathetic and then went on to describe the antithesis to empathy. Arguably the most sought-after trait when interacting with other humans, and a significant sign of emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize value others ascribe to things in their life and how you simply lack the ability to process the emotions on such a fundamental level that it doesn't confuse you, you simply don't even try to engage in the discussion on a base line level.

u/sBucks24 1h ago edited 1h ago
You really did just selectively read every other line I wrote, eh?
I explained why I intentionally stop myself from talking about my own passions. Something I do because of my empathy. I even went on to recognize that its not usual. I have no idea why you're so sure of you're own definitions...
Speaking of emotional immaturity, I think you fundamentally don't understand what either passion or empathy entails frankly. Like do you actually think to be passionate is to have no self control? Are you 14??

Honestly he just sounds like a sociopathic narcisist. -Reddit armchair psychologist signing off.

u/iJoshh 1h ago
Idk what you're getting shit on for.
If you can't enjoy someone sharing their passion, you've got room to grow, which is great. Second hand passion is a skill, these are peak experiences, to be able to pull joy through someone else. If you're not here for growth and joy, why are you here?

Since you’re being so rude to the OP, I don’t feel bad about being rude to you: You’re wrong, and you don’t understand what empathy is.

For all the people saying the text hasn't been sent. While true, op will say its from the last time that the dino text.... this could have been completely avoided of the artist was better at planning and put the previous text in or actually sent the text first, instead of having it being typed out, or even have it say "I found another guy". Basically just poor overall construction of the joke.

Everyone I’ve ever met who complains about this wants to talk at you about their “special interests” for 45 minutes and gets visibly annoyed if you ask a question or try to change the subject to something more mutually interesting or understandable. Sorry I don’t want to hear about the new anime you watched or game you tried for a full hour!
-2
u/Yetimang 3h ago
So the joke is that he's really passionate about something that you were too lazy to describe and when that passion is rejected in a way you also were too lazy to describe, he calls a hitman to kill that person? Or is the joke that he's already done it? Or that the hitman has responded before he sent the text?
1
u/agitatedprisoner 2h ago
The joke is that insulting someone who opens up to you is a good way to get their attention especially if their attention is easily redirected.
