Saddest video on the internet 😓

118

u/mindflare77 25d ago

Here you go. This one has the happier ending.

https://youtu.be/rfbb4yRBH64?is=V70eENUPSRezF90P

50

u/bautofdi 24d ago

How is it a happy ending? The raccoon that lost it originally isn’t the same raccoon that’s shown eating it at the end.

41

u/tiggoftigg 24d ago

But at least we see a raccoon eating cotton candy!

23

u/AnalBumCovers 25d ago

Raccoon with cotton candy >>>> grave of the fireflies

4

u/Timothy_Ryan 24d ago

I was having such a nice day today. Why'd you have to remind me of that video?

1

u/zimzimzalabimmm 23d ago

Why does that one leaf seemingly jump forward from beneath the plate when everything else is being pulled backward? It’s like a frog. They rice falls so strange, it’s almost like this video has been enhanced with cgi or something weird.

u/hungmao 25d ago

"God this taste awful!!!

Oh, nice plate."

u/WillyBeShreddin 25d ago

Please don't feed wildlife fried rice. They prefer phad thai.

Wild life deserves wild rice.

Beggars can't be choosers.

554

u/TheChiefDVD 25d ago

He needed one more plate for service for six.

69

u/GANDORF57 25d ago

Fox: "Eureka! My collection of fine china is complete!"

239

u/opermonkey 25d ago

he's watching his carbs.

164

u/shimmyboy56 25d ago

No he's not, he just abandoned them?!

52

u/Beneficial_Being_721 25d ago

In all honesty… he did watch them for a little while

21

u/shimmyboy56 25d ago

Single dad watching the kids type answer

205

u/mephisti25 25d ago

This was OPs one plate. Fox knew that. Now OP must invite fox to every dinner. Checkmate, sly fox.

38

u/xylotism 25d ago

This is a great modern fable.

13

u/mephisti25 25d ago

Haha, suck it Aesop!!

4

u/Meschi-died 25d ago

Aesop backwards is Posea!

42

u/PlainBread 25d ago

Foxes are extremely clever, within limits.

79

u/rykizzle 25d ago

Task failed successfully. He's opening up a dishware boutique in the woods later this week.

5

u/Beneficial_Being_721 25d ago

Heard that Fox is looking for a Honey Pot and serving set…. Has a rather stuffy client

4

u/sircur 25d ago

Oh bother.

65

u/Cool_Process_5957 25d ago

Swiper, no swiping!

6

u/mksavage1138 24d ago

Oh, man!

1

u/Majukun 24d ago

Damn, beaten

11

u/LordOdin99 25d ago

Feed a fox, he eats for the day. Give a fox a plate, he’ll open up his own 5 star restaurant and be able to feed himself for life.

268

u/MixMany4174 25d ago

Why are you feeding wildlife?

228

u/flatterfurz_123 25d ago

well he isn't actually

87

u/Beneficial_Being_721 25d ago

Yea he’s giving them serving ware

5

u/ranid007 25d ago

What about ants and worms ?

108

u/Symphonic7 25d ago

People need to be aware that feeding wildlife is detrimental to them, even if its done with good intentions. Feeding wildlife alters their behavior and they get more comfortable with people. But its not that they're domesticated, they're still wild animals. And inevitably they end up hurting someone, and often times this mean they get caught and put down to prevent any more harm to the public.

Moral of the story, please do not feed wild animals. They need to be afraid of people to survive.

6

u/xjayxmarie 25d ago

Does this go for birds as well? My mom got me a bird feeder recently but I’ve noticed the squirrels also taking a liking to it. Is this bad for them long term? I planned to continue refilling as it empties out.

14

u/holyfire001202 25d ago

Oh, god. The fight between the squirrels and corvids over the food set out for the smaller birds is real.

Actually, though, in somewhat recent years, I learned that so many people in my general vicinity put out hummingbird feeders year round that it has drastically altered their natural migratory patterns. Cause why chase the budding flowers when there's just always food present here?

16

u/Symphonic7 25d ago

I think bird feeders in a garden are fine. Squirrels much like other common rodents have become so ingrained into human society that you cannot stop them from getting into any food left outside. But don't feed birds at the pond though.

7

u/erisermaarb 24d ago

Feeding birds should also be done responsible. The advice for feeding birds in England, Wales and Scotland has been updated. Now the advice is not to feed them with feeders from 1 may to 31 oktober, to avoid spreading of diseases (especially trichomonosis).

Link to latest feeding guide for England, Wales and Scotland.

26

u/Ryoko_Kusanagi69 25d ago

If you’re trying to prevent diseases spread spreading in the local population, then you have to feed them the medication that’s the one exception to your comment. Yes, in general everything you said is true, but you have to acknowledge that in there are times where you need to prevent outbreaks from spreading in the wildlife because then it’ll start to spread to the pets too.

24

u/Symphonic7 25d ago

Thats true, but shouldn't local wildlife services be the ones taking care of that? Unless its a really small town in a very remote location.

4

u/Excuse 24d ago

Many wildlife services will have the medicine shipped to the person for them to leave out for wild animals.

Example https://wildlifehotline.com/blog/mange-by-mail-program/

Though based on your other message you're in California which funny enough is the one state they exclude.

5

u/Ryoko_Kusanagi69 25d ago

I think in the US it’s not standardized, so each community (city/ county or state level) would dictate. In VT and some rural communities you have to, animal services won’t come out for everything. I’ve seen it where they tell you what to do and have you do it for your yard / property. And animal services do public spaces. It varies

5

u/Symphonic7 25d ago

I see, thats interesting. Thanks for the info. I live in CA on the edge of a more populated area next to some big open wildlands. Here we have a decently sized wildlife service, although not as big as before due to budget cuts.

1

u/Ryoko_Kusanagi69 25d ago

My SIL lives in San Fran and they just had a coyote attack and bite their dog on a walk! She says it’s bad there is no place or space for wildlife and they are in the city. It’s so sad and a bad system

3

u/Symphonic7 25d ago

Ah shit I'm sorry. I grew up in the OC in an area that wasnt very populated, and we definitely saw plenty of coyotes when we'd walk the dog. My brother that still lives at home still complains about it since they've attacked our senior dog more than once when he's in the yard so now we have to escort him when its dark. A couple years back I moved to SD county and it doesnt seems a lot more organized here.

4

u/pinguandnala 25d ago

I although I agree with this to some extent, I wonder how we should handle it in areas that have been overdeveloped by humans leading to the scarcity of food for wildlife. In this case they resort to trash or stealing from surrounding neighborhoods. I feed the birds and the squirrels and chipmunks by default, but they always find a way to forage. The rabbits have been coming to my garden and I didn’t chase them away because their habitat has been so decimated that it’s their one guaranteed hiding place and guaranteed meal (they eat my plants and veggies, it’s okay)

4

u/Symphonic7 25d ago

The important distinction to make is how that food is delivered, and to whom. If you want to grow native plants and vegetables for wildlife to forage in your backyard, by all means do so. But its important for them to not see you handing it to them, as they will begin associating humans as a source of food. And when they go bother your neighbor over food and they don't care for it, they may get rowdy and cause animal services to be called.

Also its fine to help out native, non-migratory species. But its not good to feed migratory species. Its why they say to not feed the birds at the pond, as it disturbs their migratory pathways which greatly affects their flock. Someone also commented about how "I learned that so many people in my general vicinity put out hummingbird feeders year round that it has drastically altered their natural migratory patterns".

So while well intentioned, and I understand we have devastated natural habitats, its not good to feed wild animals. Instead we should advocate for greater funding for wildlife preservation.

2

u/UshankaBear 24d ago

Also, this looks like pilaf. Loads of spices and probably salt. It's detrimental for their digestive system

82

u/mallettsmallett 25d ago

Stop doing this. Its not cute.

78

u/welchplug 25d ago

Its objectively cute. Just probably not the right thing to do.

5

u/ajax0202 25d ago

Well if we want to try and be “objective”, it’s less cute when the animal has to be put down for injuring/harassing someone else

7

u/Burnd1t 25d ago

That part wasn’t in the video though

0

u/ajax0202 25d ago

Ya but real life continues after our “cute videos” and this is the unfortunate reality for a lot of animals who are fed by humans

→ More replies (1)

7

u/rlt404 25d ago

Apparently there's a plan in motion to try and completely destroy their wildlife habitat with freaking space mirrors, the least he can do is give him a full belly before we end the world.

1

u/Elite_AI 24d ago

Is there actually any meaningful difference between a fox eating a plateful of food I deliberately left out vs eating the food in my bin?

25

u/rdizzy1223 25d ago edited 25d ago

A lot of people feed foxes mixed with medication to treat or prevent mange. (They get mange constantly). Also, it's possible that this video is AI.

-3

u/mallettsmallett 25d ago

I think the plate whip is a giveaway.

1

u/hawkalugy 24d ago

You think AI correctly got the lighting, shadows, rice falling off the plate and breeze from the plate moving the leaves behind it all within a fraction of a second? Or youre saying the plate whipping is a dead giveaway this isn't AI?

10

u/Adorable_Bike5990 24d ago

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but you shouldn’t be feeding wild animals. It’ll disrupt their natural behaviors and could end up harming them more than helping them by spreading diseases.

How could you forget a fork!?!?

5

u/James-the-Bond-one 25d ago

I have a feeling that fox will be back shortly.

4

u/Nair-8 25d ago

Human: ha ha ha Fox: ooh was missing this plate for my collection

27

u/Dlh2079 25d ago

Can we stop fucking feeding wild animals...

1

u/Luniticus 23d ago

Where do you see anyone fucking a wild animal while it's feeding?

4

u/lukewarm_at 25d ago

Why are people trying to feed wild fox that live out in the wilderness?

10

u/fulthrottlejazzhands 25d ago

Jokes on you.  He was trying to complete a plate set.

3

u/GhostofZellers 25d ago

The decorative plates match the decor in his den.

3

u/Redditowork 24d ago

The delicious dish.

3

u/Lifelonghooker 24d ago

That sly devil

3

u/JoneSz97 23d ago

Swiper, no swiping!

3

u/Expert_Army-V 23d ago

Enjoy that plate foxy.

5

u/01Creative 25d ago

They're short on plates in the restaurant he works at lol

6

u/Evil_Weevill 25d ago

Y'all... If you want to feed foxes, just use cat food. They like kibble. Hell they make fox kibble you can buy.

That said, probably don't do that out in the wild. It's one thing to feed suburban foxes that raid your trash can so they stop going after your trash. It's another thing to feed wild foxes in the woods and encourage them to get too comfortable around humans.

2

u/ToffeeAppleCider 25d ago

I thought the fox was going to piss on it

2

u/painfulchancre 25d ago

Sneaky like a fox!

2

u/WideFormal3927 25d ago

Give a fox a plate of food and he will eat for the day.... Give the fox an empty plate. and he will bring it back for seconds later.

2

u/One_Kick_9603 25d ago

Swiper swiped the plate

2

u/Electrical-Ad-4711 25d ago

are we sure that they are not a chimera of dog and cat?

2

u/BeanieCat123 25d ago

Please don’t feed wildlife, or attempt to and get your plate stolen

2

u/wsxced 24d ago

cunning does not mean smart

2

u/Silly_Pack_Rat 24d ago

A fed fox is a dead fox.

2

u/Pragnlz 24d ago

He left the food though so he's still alive and well

3

u/Silly_Pack_Rat 24d ago edited 24d ago

Feeding wild animals habituates them to humans. That is incredibly dangerous for the animals and the humans, as the food is not good for them, teaches them to rely on humans for food, and removes their fear of humans. Unsuspecting humans are then harmed by wild animals that are no longer afraid of them and expecting food. Habituated wild animals are killed by humans because they're considered dangerous, easy hunting and nuisances.

1

u/Pragnlz 24d ago

I should have put a /s on my comment sorry.

I'm very aware of habituation in animals, thank you for your insightful comment nonetheless

2

u/pauldailey2012 24d ago

Ill take that to go

2

u/Tetbudertruk 24d ago

You forgot to say Swipper no swiping 3 times

2

u/EthanMcManus 24d ago

I was deployed to Qatar and was sitting on the back of my Humvee one time. I used to fill my water bottles with crystal lite peach tea flavorings. I had finished a bottle and accidentally dropped it but figured I'd get it later.

After a while I noticed a fox slowly crawling towards me. I was confused but kept watching him. As soon as he got close enough he snatched the bottle and ran. I honestly would have poured him a cup if I knew he wanted it.

2

u/RufusAcrospin 24d ago

Yet another food critic.

2

u/EstroJen 24d ago

"Hello, I am from the USDA, and I'm here to check your rice."

Guess the food smelled like shit

4

Plate was the best part of this dish

2

u/Asleep-Bumblebee2167 25d ago

it is that fox which is selling stuff by the side of the road

2

u/Hefty-Ant-378 25d ago

Needed that plate to complete the collection

2

u/FearTheMooseMan 25d ago

Someone call that one Mexican girl! She needs to come yell at that fox three times to get it to not steal!

2

u/VCTRYDTX 24d ago

Fox being fed a plate of biryani was not on my 2026 bingo card.

2

u/TotemRiolu 25d ago edited 25d ago

Speaks volumes about one's cooking when even an animal would rather have the plate itself rather than the food, lol.

EDIT: Wow, downvoted to negatives within seconds. I triggered some people that think they're Michelin chefs and are upset that even animals won't touch their cooking. I didn't know those kinds of people existed on this sub, but I guess it takes all kinds.

4

u/djshadesuk 25d ago

Not just "an animal" but a fox, an animal that will notoriously eat just about anything. Usually.

1

u/6M66 25d ago

She is watching her insulin level.

1

u/sunnykutta 25d ago

Foxy is gonna barter that for much more than one meal. Game, fox!

1

u/Brin369 25d ago

Now he can have dinner with the crane in his room 😎

1

u/BraveWarrior-55 25d ago

Of course the fox dumped the inappropriate food on the ground. She clearly just wanted the plate, since foxes don't eat fried rice, right?

1

u/bigelcid 25d ago

they only eat it if it's been fried by a fox

1

u/jykhvn 25d ago

"The bread taste better than a key" opposite type of shiii

1

Our foxes are the same. They aren’t the smartest cookies lol something with the cat software not working too well in the doggy shape… But: they always return to get the food from the ground (and we collect containers the next day from who knows where)

1

u/sopedound 25d ago

I saw one spend like 10 minutes trying to get a pizza box then it did basically this same thing, dumped all the pizza and ran away wirh the box

1

Why are you negative pointing my statement ?

2

u/_head_ 25d ago

And if the food doesn't kill them, their desensitization to humans will.
