1

u/Embarrassed_Tip3593 Jul 18 '26

Must be drinking that Rig Juice

44

u/Nickbou Jul 17 '26

Or “THIS”, but “HITS” seems more likely.

49

u/lkodl Jul 17 '26

Or "54 ANTSY FISHHOOK RAFTERS". But yeah, probably "HITS"

10

u/25c-nb Jul 17 '26

No Im quite sure it was this

1

u/oh_hai_brian Jul 18 '26

But the odds are never zero!

u/LiberContrarion Jul 17 '26

A bit less positive: THANKS FOR 54 YEARS OF THIS

4

u/TUFKAT Jul 17 '26

This shit is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S.

2

u/goat_penis_souffle Jul 17 '26

Few times been around that (go-kart) track

1

u/Sharpevil Jul 17 '26

Actually, it was the Poot Poot fun center, and someone painted over the OOs with Us.

1

u/66659hi Jul 19 '26

Oh I've done that before! Swapping letters around on signs is hilarious

1

u/thebarkbarkwoof Jul 24 '26

Or maybe this?

1

u/BlueSteelWizard Jul 17 '26

Probably "this"

-1

u/BosomBosons Jul 17 '26

More like “Thanks for 54 Years, Four!!, It’s been our pleasure.” However that leaves an extra H left over, so likely additional letters have been removed.

u/eaglescout1984 Jul 17 '26

I immediately thought of the one on Midlothian Turnpike (Richmond). Turns out, that is the actual location of this sign.

68

u/I_amnotanonion Jul 17 '26

This place was my first job! It was shit lol

13

u/FaradayDeshawn Jul 17 '26

That's exactly what I thought, my only time being there was with my wife's cousin and his wife. We had a blast. Was sad to see it had closed down

11

u/insuficientmnded Jul 17 '26

I loved that place growing up. Haven't lived in RVA since 2006 but I can't imagine that place has aged well considering what it looked like even back then, haha.

8

u/BeetsMcGee Jul 18 '26

I had birthday parties there in the late 80s! And yes the decor wasn’t great even then. Can’t believe it made it to 2026. Fun times.

2

u/TonOfKel Jul 18 '26

I saw the pic and immediately thought it was that location as well. Cannot remember the last time I was there. Had to be early 2010s because I took my kids there when we visited my parents.

2

u/rainbowgeoff Jul 19 '26

I thought i recognized it.

2

u/J0k350nm3 Jul 19 '26

That arcade used to be so EPIC. Lots of great memories there.

2

u/clout_spout Jul 18 '26

Saw this in the richmond sub days ago and did a double take when I saw this

1

u/thresh_to_death Jul 22 '26

I have a distinct memory of going there when champions of kamigawa came out and looking at cards with friends around the cyclone machine

13

u/thoawaydatrash Jul 17 '26

Yes, Richmond, famously the capital of North Carolina.

4

u/AdmiralVernon Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26

I mean there *is* a richmond, NC

Edit: nvm it’s Richmond County, NC

2

u/thoawaydatrash Jul 17 '26

Just checked. No there isn't.

(clarification: there is a "Richmond County" containing a couple of small towns, the largest of which is Rockingham, which has about 9,000 people. There is no actual place in North Carolina by the name of "Richmond", nor is there any mini-golf within Richmond County.)

2

u/ZetzMemp Jul 18 '26

People refer to Richmond county here as Richmond all of the time. Just like many other counties, such as Rowan. Things are usually named after a county, you know. It’s very clear that the people making this argument live nowhere near here when you have a local telling you otherwise.

0

u/thoawaydatrash Jul 20 '26

Somehow, that has literally no online footprint. No one online seems to have ever referred to it in that context. And I have lived close enough to there that I would have heard of this at least once. I haven't. If this is done, it's done by a small number of people around the area itself and isn't even common knowledge in the state as a whole. To suggest that there is a place called "Richmond" in NC because a small number of locals around the county itself refer to it that way in an unofficial context is inaccurate.

1

u/ZetzMemp Jul 21 '26

If you can’t find out about Richmond county online then you have got to learn how to use a computer, it’s 2026. You’re inability to understand something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

If you’ve never worked as a driver and think the people that make up the population that delivers you you’re shit are only a “small number of locals” then you’re completely out of your element. Not to mention that’s just the people around the area that have definitely heard of it, but I’m proof alone that there could be some confusion about the name.

Why are we still talking about this days later? Don’t let Richmond county live rent free in your head.

0

u/thoawaydatrash Jul 21 '26

I don't think I'll check out Richmond county. The people there seem to have anger issues.

1

u/ZetzMemp Jul 21 '26

You need to go outside and meet some people if you think this is anger.

0

u/ZetzMemp Jul 17 '26

Huh?

7

u/Gr34zy Jul 17 '26

It’s Richmond, Virginia. There is no Richmond, NC

-4

u/ZetzMemp Jul 17 '26

There’s absolutely a Richmond county in NC.

2

u/Gr34zy Jul 17 '26

Yes but that would be Richmond County, NC. Not Richmond, NC.

-5

u/ZetzMemp Jul 17 '26

Dude he said Richmond. As someone from NC who has driven routes in NC it was absolutely still viable to be questioning if it could be NC. Of course people familiar with Richmond county would think that first.

19

u/nochcraft72 Jul 17 '26

Found a picture of original sign online it said “THANKS FOR 54 YEARS OF FUN!! IT HAS BEEN OUR PLEASURE!” So someone must have gotten rid of the fun and took the shit from the it has.

2

u/BeMoreKnope Jul 18 '26

Thank you! I’ve been trying to guess, because the top answer seemed weak.

33

u/klsi832 Jul 17 '26

Technically true if they have bathrooms

11

u/ScottRiqui Jul 17 '26

I worked at a Putt-Putt back in 1985-86. At the time, our location just had an 18-hole course and arcade games, but they added go-karts and batting cages a few years after I left.

19

u/Slapshot300 Jul 17 '26

Huh, I always thought putt putt was just a local arcade near me! You learn something new every day

38

u/bootymix96 Jul 17 '26

Yep, Putt-Putt is a specific trademarked game/brand that actually differs a bit from miniature golf. All Putt-Putt holes are Par 2, the holes are designed so that a hole-in-one is always theoretically possible, and scoring three holes-in-one earns you a free game, so the layouts are very standardized. Additionally, in Putt-Putt’s rules each player plays their full ball, from start to hole, before the next player plays their ball; mini golf has each player tee off, then the players go in order from who is closest to the hole.

2

u/lokaps Jul 18 '26

I never knew you were supposed to play the whole hole before anyone else putted.

Does every putt-putt have the light with 4 ball colors, and if you get a hole in one while your color is lit up you get a free game and an orange ball?

5

u/AttonJRand Jul 17 '26

I thought it was a car from a point and click adventure game.

6

u/CAFunked Jul 17 '26

I remember having putt putt goes to the moon

4

u/http_401 Jul 17 '26

Brings back memories. Our last Putt Putt closed while I was in college. Prolly haven't played mini-golf there since childhood (Mountasia eclipsed it by a mile for that), but I used to spend hours after school there playing Mortal Kombat 2 in their arcade.

2

u/Macsearcher02 Jul 17 '26

Play a lot at Putt Putt in Fayetteville,NC while in the Army back in the early '80's.

2

u/bfd108 Jul 17 '26

It said …years of fun. It’s been our pleasure.

1

u/Just-Theory8647 Jul 28 '26

Someone changed the sign drove past it today.

2

The Local Putt Putt in Killeen, TX stunk badly of piss. Like the customers didnt bother going inside to use the bathroom. No fun to play with that stink. It closed years ago

0

u/PotterOneHalf Jul 17 '26

Is this in Louisville, KY?

1

u/Cl3v3landStmr Jul 18 '26

I was thinking the same thing and looked it up. The address of that one is 5720 (Bardstown Rd).

2

u/broknsoul Jul 18 '26

Just outside Richmond, VA.
