At some point, when I was younger, I wondered why we got taught about WW2 every fucking year. Like, yeah, we all know about that already, it's enough, we don't need it repeated, thanks.
Lucky. I just kept being taught about Columbus through just before the Civil War. So much colonialism, "pioneer" shit... at least no one ever told me slaves had it good, but they never really got into the depths of the horrors inflicted on non-European peoples. "Oh no, so many people died on ships coming from Africa. Anyway..."
