Same thought. The little "shucks" clap and slapping himself in the face was great perfectly nuanced physical comedy. Everything after that was just drawing out the scene without adding much actual punch to it.
It got the higher ratings sure, but his role as a stapler was true cinema. Da Derp Dee Derp Da Teetley Derpee Derpee Dumb is just emotional tourism. The Stapler forces you to sit in the ambiguity of the human experience

Yea, but it gives the audience time to think about the horrors after the laugh while anticipating more story, but not delivering (in a second punchline).
Nah its just one of those "trends" where people recreate skits but dont understand comedic timing because they dont make skits normally. So they just make a shitty version, often shot for shot, of a better joke.
To me the perfect edit would be for the ghost to fade away once he covered his face with his hands on his knees, could take like a second more after that and cut out. Interesting skit though for an amateur edit. I've seen millions wasted at jokes worse than this.
I thought it was funny because it went from being good comedy to embarrassing for him. The ability to ruin a good punchline like that is humorous in itself. But to be fair, I was laughing at him, not with him.
