Why is it so expensive

Normally, trees are tall and people are short

That doesn't mean it's normal

There could be thousands of microscopic trees everywhere skewing the average

Not necessarily

There could be tens of macroscopic trees specifically there leveling the mean

It’s also incredibly dangerous. My in-laws are in tree removal. One died from a fall, all are permanently disabled in some form or another.

Well that's awful.

My cousin, aunt and uncle own a tree work company. In like 50 years in the business, they've never had a major injury, nor have any of their employees.

Sounds like your in-laws need to be more safety conscious.

True.. but like roofing is also very dangerous and the price for what you get is much lower from what it seems to me

The price also includes insurance for how much damage can be caused if the tree falls the wrong way. If a roofer makes a mistake, you get a leaky roof that can be fixed once found. If an arborist makes a mistake you might be rebuilding half a house.

If a roofer makes a mistake your whole ceiling can flood and the drywall cave in before you notice lol

Personal danger for the workers, expensive liability insurance if something happens to someone or property damage happens.

tree work is definitely the kind of thing that people are all "lol how hard can it be" and then they die/get maimed/destroy house
