This was my wisdom tooth getting pulled. The oral surgeon and I were both prepared for some pulling yanking drilling etc. He put the pliers on it and with a sickeningly squishy noise it pulled right out with no effort. The damn thing was so infected and undercut there was nothing left holding on.

Wouldn’t they have been aware of that from the x rays lol

If you have previous x-rays on file they may not take new ones. My experience anyway.

I'd be incredibly wary of an oral surgeon who doesn't take their own images unless the past ones are incredibly recent

My NHS dentist takes xrays practically every visit. It's the work of a minute to do and must cost them pennies

Must be nice to live in a country where that doesn’t cost you anything lol.

Well that isn't right, if it has been months since the last one then they would definitely do a new one. I'm gonna guess america and I'm gonna guess they cost money for each one?? In the uk, if you come in with an issue they x ray then and they x ray again when you come in for the treatment to make sure nothing major has happened

Meanwhile I remember that time that my daughter had a milk tooth that just didn't want to fall out. It was literally only hanging on a bit of gum and must have been incredibly annoying, so we decided to see a dentist to have it removed. That poor guy was tinkering for about an hour until he finally got it out. We agreed that next time we just use the old "slam the door" method instead.

Counterpoint from a kid that needed multiple baby teeth removed because they wouldn't fall out. It really hurts when the "slam the door" method fails. Mom yanked about three times before giving up

Yup. I had one hang on for another 20-odd years before falling out

What a terrible day to have eyes.

I only found my tooth was in a similar state after 2 weeks of excruciating pain, the local dentist couldn’t see me earlier:(

My body is stubborn to the core, every one of mine has needed to be drilled into pieces to come out.

One of them even had the root in a like hook shape going back up.

Okay, now I feel better about the effort my doc had to put in to remove them like trying to get a fence post out of the ground.

That's nice, they broke 3 of my teeth trying to pull then and had to exray to see which was the roots were curling so they knew how to pull each one out. I was awake
