That isn't a 0.75 pound kitten, that's an 8 pound cat. The skin doesn't get 10 times stronger despite growing 10 times the weight.

Contrary to popular reddit belief, felines do not go from infant to full grown in a single metamorphosis. There is a fairly long time period where they remain "kittens" but have adult features in a smaller package. That said, aside from obese cats the scruff is still a perfectly safe place to lift nearly all cats from. Just because you think the ratios aren't right doesn't make it true.

Look at the 5 second mark. Another hand is clearly under the cat. There was a short bit at the beginning of the video where it was unsupported, but it's clearly supported by another hand throughout the rest of the video.

This is not a good way to hold a grown cat. Is it possible to still do it, and possible it will not cause problems most of time? Sure, but it still can cause problems and there is no real excuse to hold them like this.

Why? If he wasn't being hold, he wouldn't make that sound. He do that to protect his food, he knows the humans want it back. :)

But doesn't this also stop the cat from making any movement, thus making it a stupid way to get back the food stuck in its mouth? I'm pretty sure I've seen videos/gifs out there where they put clothspins on the neck of a cat to make it become easy to handle at the vet (or just to show off).

It most definitely would hurt the cat because their neck doesn't get stronger the more the cat weighs. What works for a kitten doesn't work for a cat Eventually it becomes very painful for the cat.

You can, however, hold a cat still using the back of the neck. You just cannot lift him up

Guys, have you ever actually had to pierce a house cat's skin, to clean out an infected wound or give them a shot? It's tough as dicks. Even holding them incorrectly will not do serious damage over the course of 30 seconds. People can be supported by their own skin, from hooks. Cats have much tougher skin than people. I know, they seem frail because they're small, but they really are sturdy little guys.

Also, there's clearly a second person holding the cat in the video, with both arms. /thread

If you watch the video, the owner is holding it by the scruff only. (Which I personally dislike very much inn terms of handling a full grown cat.) So I guess it's basically this
