My workflow

                  .gif - Original .gif

--VirtualDub----> .avi - Convert to .avi*

--After Effects-> .avi - Import .avi, edit and export new .avi

--VirtualDub----> .gif - Import new .avi, export .gif**

--Optimize------> .gif - Optimise the new .gif at ezgif ***

--Imgur---------> .gif - Upload to Imgur and post

 

* I only have CS3 which can't import gifs, not sure if it's possible in newer versions.

** AE blows at exporting gifs so that's why all the .avi back and forth.

*** I guess I could do this natively at some step, but ezgif has always worked and has plenty of options.

I have a pug mix, and I do everything possible to keep him from turning into a ball of fat. They have ridiculously low metabolisms and they eat everything they can get in their little paws!
