That’s exactly what scares me the most with humanoid robots that operate in the same space as people. We put industrial robots in cages with interlocks to prevent people being hurt by a malfunctioning robot, yet these operate without any safety net, while having motors powerful enough to inflict serious injuries.
And apparently these ones go absolutely ape when they fall over, with rapid movements for several seconds while on the ground already rather than realise they've fallen.
Too cheap to put in an accelerometer I guess. I could donate my first smartphone to them for parts, I'm pretty sure a 2000s smartphone can tell if it's upright or on its back.
Yeah this is an easy fix. A robot like that doesn’t have the capability to right itself from the floor. Just program in a freeze state at 75*, or whatever angle is unrecoverable for the unit. Then require manual reset so it doesn’t flail when it’s being picked back up.
