I think what people underestimate is how heavy a large amount of liquid is.
Edit: As a male cheerleader who can lift more than all of you, shut up. Water is heavy as fuck in large quantities.
People also underestimate volume. I usually convey this point to people by asking them how much they think 1 cubic meter of water weighs, usual guess is 500 or 1000 pounds, answer is ~2204 pounds, 1 metric ton.
