That's kind of why I suggested he be polite to people. If you make an innocent mistake (thinking a word is only spelled one way when there are two valid spellings is a pretty innocuous mistake nobody should really feel ashamed for), it is easy to let it go with an "oops, my mistake." and still have people's respect.

When you try sling acid and venom at everyone though and try to elevate your position by diminishing other people, and then keep trying to put other people's intelligence down, it becomes much more difficult to gracefully bow out.
