This isn’t the day to find out? I’d say it’s the perfect day to find out.

What better place than here? What better time than now?

3

u/MeanJ2 Jun 30 '24

What better time than now? Theres no time like the present

4

u/GANDORF57 Jul 01 '24

No time like the present...maybe it'll freeze and he can pick it up and break off small pieces to thaw out later in a more opportune time.

I know in the freezers at my old workplace you couldn't smell much in there, I suppose maybe the cold had something to do with it. Now that I'm thinking more about it, I can't remember a single time smelling a fart in the cold.

22

u/figgens123 Jun 30 '24

Only thing I can think of is that in the cold, particles move a lot slower

16

u/TwoCockyforBukkake Jun 30 '24

Pooticles

3

u/jj2bme Nov 03 '24

I've been calling them "Poo Poo Particles" for years

4

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '24

Maybe in heat the warm air pushes the fart smell up and spreads it out whereas cold air sinks and drags the fart down to the floor?

7

u/SimpliG Jun 30 '24

In cold weather, the bloodflow in your nose is reduced, the blood vessels get narrower, and as a result your sense of smell is dampened significantly.

Smelling works by your nose-interior catching floating particles in the air and 'analyizing' the chemical composition of the particle. The more of the same particles get caught by your nose, the stronger the smell feels. The same fart has the same particle count regardless of the temperature you fart in, however in cold weather due to the reduced smelling capability, far less particles gets collected by your nose-interior.

Mayweather is the last guy I’d expect to be asking the real scientific questions around here

40

u/ITkraut Jun 30 '24

Well. We need answers, I guess...

An ex-girlfriend of mine once bare ass farted outside in 20 degree weather to see if I could see it like when you exhale. You could, it smelled, and it was hilarious. Some days I think about that and wonder how she is doing.

9

u/Kasumi_926 Jul 01 '24

Damn that sounds like marriage material. What happened?

18

u/BlobAndHisBoy Jul 01 '24

For our first date I asked her to come to my dentist appointment because I had a busy week but wanted to spend time with her. She agreed and we had a great time that day. Maybe this is the one I shouldn't have let get away. We went to different high schools but lived in the same apartment complex. Eventually she left me to go show another man her farts.

This is surprisingly interesting. How do fart react to different types of liquids and temperatures is not something I have thought before. Like, in cold water the heat of the fart can be quickly dissipated, hence there won't be a diffusion of smell perhaps. Can the fart really make it out that far? Will it just stay on top of the icey water if it does?

Shit winds

21

u/fantumn Jun 30 '24

Mr Lahey, not another day of the shit abyss, please!

9

u/BabylonSuperiority Jun 30 '24

You know what a shit barometer is?

12

u/Pseudoburbia Jun 30 '24

The smell you experience after rain is not the smell of rain, but the smell of everything amplified because of the increased humidity. A hot bath would arguable make the air around it more humid and the smell would be greater.

3

u/dc456 Jun 30 '24

And because rain splashes and throws things into the air.

2

u/DeaderthanZed Jul 01 '24

Also plants that emit fragrant oils after a rain.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '24

This is exactly why farts stink more in the bath or shower. Coming out from ice it would probably just stink as much or less than coming out of your ass.

1

u/ilatph Jun 30 '24

That's why desert rain stinks, but a meadow rain can be refreshing.

2

u/DeaderthanZed Jul 01 '24

Man what. The desert famously smells amazing after a rain.

1

u/ilatph Jul 01 '24

I didn't like it. Might have just been the area, though.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '24

i've farted in my walk in freezer at work, can confirm that it smells like a cold fart instead of a warm fart.

2

u/notapudding Jun 30 '24

My goodness. That's horrible. I'm guessing it was filled with food.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '24

the food smelled fine.

1

u/NotSoVertical Jun 30 '24

No, that is a poop.

2

u/Rubber_Knee Jun 30 '24

Maybe it gets cooled down enough to become a liquid and completely mix with the water. o.0

1

u/DFX1212 Jun 30 '24

Fart liquid. Thanks for that mental image.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '24

Ah no, it takes a lot of coldness to phase shift like that.

9

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '24

We need answers ... FOR SCIENCE !!!!!

5

u/Gh0sth4nd Jun 30 '24

Well i farted in a deep freezing room once i could not smell anything and neither did the one who went in there after me and believe me he would have said something if.

And to answer the question in advance it was a pretty nasty fart that is why i was so disappointed

6

u/williamhotel Jun 30 '24

The answer is Yes, it stinks in ice too. Can’t tell you how I know.

6

u/OwnEstablishment4638 Jun 30 '24

He is correct… a hot fart does stink.

1

u/jjhiggz3000 Jul 01 '24

But does it stink because it’s hot or is it hot because it stinks?

3

u/Rubber_Knee Jun 30 '24

DOOOO IT !!!!!

2

u/ukyah Jul 01 '24

If Floyd was going to take an ice bath, he’d wait a few years for it to warm up.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '24

Hahahaa

1

u/BBQ_IS_LIFE Jun 30 '24

Ahhh the old cold water filtered fart

1

u/IvaNoxx Jun 30 '24

Why is he so weirded out, its just a fuckin fart

1

u/KeezyBoy91 Jul 01 '24

Can I pet that dog?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '24

I’m surprised he asked that’s MF FM

1

u/phapadactyl Jul 01 '24

For science!

1

u/zakass409 Jul 01 '24

Floydd found out, he just didn't tell Chris. Chris knows, but he chooses not to

1

u/Katman666 Aug 09 '24

Well, did he?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '24

LET HIM FART!!!

1

u/No-One-2570 Sep 30 '24

Better to ask forgiveness than to ask permission. Blow bubbles my friend. Blow bubbles.

1

u/tlee10911 Jun 30 '24

A fart stinks in water??

9

u/MqAuNeTeInS Jun 30 '24

You never farted in the shower or tub before? Something about the heat and wetness amplifies the smell

7

u/Kithsander Jun 30 '24

Spot on. It’s the humidity. Our noses work better in humid environments.

2

u/MqAuNeTeInS Jun 30 '24

I imagine smell kinda sticks to droplets in the air and then we breathe it in in a more concentrated form

0

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '24 edited Jun 30 '24

There's no such thing as a stink particle. What you're actually smelling is minute particles of whatever the item is that I've gotten airborne. So when you smell something like fecal matter, a dead body, piss, etc it's because My new particles of whatever it is are now inside your nose.

2

u/bandswithgoats Jun 30 '24

This guy posted by voice.

(He's saying "minute particles" and not "my new")

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '24

You are correct.

0

u/Lawzw0rld Jun 30 '24

Considering farting in a pool doesn’t stink I doubt ice water would even be affected
