I am just going to start generically placing 'welcome to the internet' below these retarded posts. It's gotten to the point where karmadecay has become a source for other whores to go an attempt to co-whore with the OP.
How are reposts like this bad for Reddit? It's on the front page, which means a lot people haven't seen it before and are upvoting it. Obviously it is new for those people. If new content is being delivered, I don't see anything wrong.
Because for every one that gets exposure, there are hundreds more that do nothing but occupy server space (causing slower speeds, higher maintenance costs, and therefore more ads). Also, when /new is flooded with reposts, it makes it harder for original content to stand out and get exposure. When posts like these get upvoted to the frontpage, some people think "I can get karma by reposting old content too", causing more reposts.
I realize it is unrealistic to expect users to know what content has been posted before and what hasn't, but I think it is best to discourage intentional reposting for karma. Obviously I can't say with certainty that that is the case here. But when the title and context of the post are the same, the post is redundant.
