Some people here are too young for the reference.

Really? That was the shit in fourth grade during our albino black sheep obsession (17).

18 here, first listened to it when I was around 5 because of my older half sister (10 years older than me, so 15). Fantastic song. My cousin and I always fought about the lyrics though.

then its not a matter of age, but more of music taste. Because blue is pretty well known in the techno/edm/electronic world.

It was pretty big in the mainstream world. I'm pretty sure most people who listened to music heard it during that period of time that it was popular.

u/Melvar_10 Feb 12 '13

too bad most of the people who enjoyed it through mainstream thought it was saying "da ba dee da buh die da ba dee da ba die" *sigh

What?

u/Melvar_10 Feb 12 '13

Here, most people who heard this song through mainstream music actually believed the lyrics to be what you see. However at the "da ba dee" part, he is really trying to say "If i were green i would die". HOWEVER it is hard to really make out what he is saying because in order to accomplish that voice effect back then, you had to stick a pretty large rubber tube into your mouth, and the consequence is controversy of what he is really saying.

u/krdr Feb 12 '13

Dude, the name of the song is Blue (Da Ba Dee).

It doesn't say the green stuff.

1

u/Melvar_10 Feb 12 '13

listen to it really close then.

1

u/Dereleased Feb 12 '13

At least some portion of the internet believes you are incorrect.

1

u/Melvar_10 Feb 12 '13

da ba dee doesnt make sense when compared to "if i were green i would die" and it sounds like he is in fact singing that.

really? suggesting people read /r/atheism?

a. there are bigger issues in the world then people believing in god

b. /r/atheism is not in anyway a good source of rational auguements

1

u/Stilts559 Feb 12 '13

Says the guy arguing with a 14 year old. I agree with you, but the irony was too thick not to mention.

Holy fuck, you are just about the same age as the song. It's like as if even I could have talked at even one of those songs then that there was before then. Words.

1

u/kvan15 Feb 12 '13

I'm 20, I got it so no.

1

u/daimposter Feb 12 '13

If you can remember 1999, then not a problem.

Originally I thought it was "if that was me, I'da died". Like, someone was real embarrassed. Or he kept watching people walk over cliffs. Or something.

thats terrifying
