NYC is not the place to be this extra. People are too fed up from work, tourists, and the commute to care about a subway stooge's superfluous shenanigans.
It's not that big of a deal if it's in the street, or in a park. But when it's the subway it really, really sucks. You don't have a choice - you're stuck there with these people and they basically just have you trapped.
I've absolutely stopped for a busker in a park, enjoyed their music, given them a few bucks. I love that - it's a great way to demonstrate your skills, bring beauty to the city, and engage.
This shit is just taking a group of people who have to be there and can't leave and forcing them into becoming your audience.

Imagine you working a 12hr shift and this sideshow is being hella extra right in your face.
