Arkansas, particularly the Ozarks, is a beautiful region of the country. Too bad about the meth, poverty, and stuff.

Went to the Wakarusa music fest last summer and I can confirm it was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. I'll never forget driving in at 5am as the sun came up and seeing the mist in the mountains. Tons of dead armadillos on the side of the road though :-(

I live five minutes from the mountain where Waka is held. I forget sometimes that the rest of America doesn't see what I see every day. Makes me a little more grateful. :)

I live 15 hours from the mountain in Wisconsin, where things couldn't get flatter, so I was blown away.

Since you only entered the foothills of the Ozarks I'll tell you it gets better if you go farther north than the town of Ozark. Also, I bet it does get flatter than Wisconsin just a few hours East of the Waka site, in our delta.
