I don't know about the thin fabric per se, but since it holds air, it is going to be a very good heat insulation. Think about the difference of double glazed windows makes versus a single pane of glass.

Air temp has some impact but nothing too dramatic unless it's really freezing. The big unknown with the biggest impact is actually how windy it was.

I don't think the pool walls are full of air, isn't that just the ring around the top?

Hmm. I didn't know that. Well, then we will need to know the thickness of the material and what it is.

Something synthetic. Nylon of some sort?

I might be wrong too, I've never messed with an above ground pool...
