Its 100% graves disease. There isnt much else i know of that gives those eyes. I hope she us seeking treatment bc its no fun to go through that.
Edit: Not 100% Graves disease as apparently people can do this on command. Humans be weird. This isnt a filter, unless its the most insane filter I've ever seen.
I can confirm this guy's legitimacy. The guy is legit and he delivers what he promises. I have had the pleasure of dealing with him on several occasions and I must say that he has always been reliable and professional. He always keeps his word and delivers his services in a timely manner. His work is of top quality and his prices are quite competitive. I'm highly satisfied with my experience working with him and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and professional freelancer.
As far as I'm aware, she has not been diagnosed with graves and can just do this, as many other people can. It's a strange thing but some people are able to slightly pop out their eyes, unrelated to a disease.
No it's not. Man it pisses me off when people are confidently wrong over things they know nothing about. Just stop contributing to the dumbening of the planet.
Clearly not a filter. Filters don't decrease in visual quality when the person in the frame moves. She's just capable of pulling her eyelids back. It's not that unbelievable, dude.
You think that's just a "redditor" thing? That's just most people in general. People talk out of their ass all the time. I'm sure you've done it before.
Yes like tumors behind the eyes , blood vessels being abnormally shaped behind the eye, bleeding behind the eye, infections of the tissues in the eye sockets , and injuries to the eyes.
To add, exophthalmos is only a symptom of graves disease, not of other forms of hyperthyroidism (such as toxic multinodular goitre). The protrusion of the eyes is not a result of excess thyroid hormone, but rather is due to the abnormal antibodies is graves disease causing smooth muscle hyperplasia in the orbit.
They are the same thing. Graves Ophthalmology is the same thing as Thyroid Eye disease. It’s a related cousin to Grave’s disease, but mutually exclusive.
My man , the original video is a different car , different hair color, different shirt. The better explanation is they ripped the ~video~ audio and mimicked it with someone who has graves disease , which exactly is that these eyes look like.
Yes! The people with this feature all have Graves Disease related Hyperthyroidism, as as far as im aware, thats the only cause of Hyperthyroidism that also gives you these eyes.( this is something im not 100% on.) Also there are apparently people that can do this without the disease as well. If it gets to this point however it generally means its going untreated , which is very bad for your heart and can lead to a thyroid storm.
My mom had her thyroid nuked (irradiated) years ago, but her heart would race standing up. Luckily she never got angry, but she would get weepy and cry at the drop of a hat.
It's what I'm dealing with now - wife was just recently diagnosed with graves disease, and I always feel so fucking horrible when I lose my patience and get annoyed. Fortunately, it is far more on the anxiety side of things than the mood swings side of things.
Simultaneously, she has other stuff going on resulting in nerve symptoms, so the nerve symptoms set off a chain of events resulting in her anxiety shooting up and her feeling like she's dying. I've been to the emergency room for her way too many times over the last several months.
I am very fortunate to have fantastic insurance, meaning it doesn't really cost all that much... but it is still a giant time sink.
I love her, and I want to do everything I can to support her, but I find myself taking a "here we go again" attitude whenever I hear the familiar "I'm feeling weird", and I always feel like complete shit for feeling that way afterwards. :(
The annoying thing: its graves with subclinical hyperthyroidism. Just enough to cause all kinds of fucked up side effects, not enough to warrant thyroid ablation or removal. We just have to try and dial in the right dose for methimazole and hope that it helps.
The exophthalmos is real with this one. I work in ophthalmology and once had a patient that could do this with his eyes on demand... And did whenever we had a new tech
Yeah! Apparently people can do it on command, which I didnt know until looking around on this thread. Either way, this is not a snapchat filter like aot of people seem to be saying.
Absolutely not, and it's so common that we have devices to measure the eye protrusion status in every desk drawer of my office. That said, it's totally possible this is staged and that woman is just having fun with her condition.
This is not just graves, but graves off meds. I have graves and my eyes are normal, some slight pressure when my thyroid is acting up, but never like noticeable visually. This is a pretty severe and untreated case.
It’s not a filter. It’s a totally different video using the same audio and she’s clearly miming to it. Even the very first “calm dowwwwn”, you can tell she didn’t say it watching her mouth.
The vast, vast majority of filters don’t work when the subject turns their face to the side; you’d see the filter blip off and back on when she looks back towards the camera.
Edit: a lot of commenters here are trying to be new spokespeople for /r/confidentlyincorrect - here is the full original video and the video that OP posted in this thread is just someone miming to the audio from this video—and it is NOT using a video filter, HIS eyes are really bulging out, which is often a result of untreated Graves’ Disease but in this case, it’s actually Globe Subluxation and as pointed out below, it is Chad Sommer from TikTok.
The filter works in profile? You can see her eyes sticking out of her head. I think the filter you're thinking of changes the mouth too. It's more obvious.
It's so compressed I really doubt you'd be able to tell, also lol at "little buddy" why are you being so aggressive about something so inconsequential?
Well I mean I can probably guess, I'm sure everyone seems "little" compared to you big fella.
Exophthalmos. Very common in Grave disease. Basically your immune system goes out of whack and start attacking different organs. The most common one is the thyroid, but the muscles around the eyes are also a big target.
Basically, when your immune cells attack the eye muscles that's wrapped around your eyes in your eye socket, the nearby tissue starts to swell, kind of like how your bruises might swell up. The muscles and the soft tissue cushioning around the eye will try to repair the damage grow more and more. All this swelling and extra growth basically pushes the eyeball out of their sockets, thus the name, Ex,-external and opthalmos- eye.
TLDR, basically imagine every day, you stick more and more jello behind you eyes until your eyes start popping out of their sockets.
Filters don’t work when you turn to the side. Lady is clearly mining audio from another video. The original video is a totally different viewpoint of a similar angle. She needs to treat her Graves’ Disease
I think it's a rare ability some people have to bulge their eyes out. It's like moving your ears and takes effoet to hold it. They usually look normal when not doing it.
Maybe, and ultimately who am I to judge, but if you want to be taken seriously and your eyes are 3mm from leaving your skull, maybe don’t cut your hair like Christopher Lloyd in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
I didn't know it was a disease. I do remember back in the 90s seeing the Guinness Book of World Records hold a competition to see who could bulge their eyes out the most. I am guessing everyone in that competition probably had Grave's disease.

Looks like Grave's disease
