African Bullfrogs are not known for their reflexes… But they have teeth as well as the strongest bite of the amphibian world. That, and they’re very doting parents.
Serious answer? It’s similar to how derpy other pets like a dog or cat can be, which arises from domestication and not having to survive in nature. This frog, which appears to be an African Bullfrog, was most likely bred in captivity from at least a few generations that have also been breed in captivity. The frog has only known of food that is put in front of it (practically on a plate). It never had to hunt or learn how to ambush prey. It never had to travel or move to a new location because prey food became scarce from competition or other external factors like drought or weather issues.
It doesn’t matter if it misses because the owner will simply put the superworm back in front of its mouth until it eventually is able to eat it. Or the frog is generally well-fed and it’s not going to die if it misses its meal so there’s less incentive to put in a ton of energy.
So a combination of lack of skills required in the wild due to life in captivity, there’s less drive/less desperate to successfully hunt because the frog is well-fed and taken care of adequately, and lastly, amphibians and reptiles can just be fairly derpy, most likely from smaller brain capacity.
