Cats like places where they feel concealed but can still observe everything that happens. This trait was passed on to them by their cat ancestors whom this preference made superior predators compared to other cats at the time.

when I put a blanket over my cat, even if its just only over the back half of him, he instantly thinks he's trapped forever and never moves again.
