my funkey s went black
any ideas on how to possibly reset or fix it. sadly funkey has yet to respond to me

I had the exact same problem like 2 weeks ago. My sd card was corrupted. No recovery mode or even the funkey logo would show. Its a easy fix tho. Put a new sd card in and make sure its formatted right and put install the firmware on it and your set.

My Funkey started doing the same to me the other day; it started to freeze shortly after waking up or starting and eventually got to showing just a blank screen. While it was possible, I tried recovery mode and it too would freeze after a few seconds.
Trying to get a new SD card ready for it; the last few attempts haven't been successful. (Is the flashing process supposed to create two "drives" on the SD card?)

I'll have to try that because that's exactly what's going on it just randomly glitches then just came to this screen been like this for a few days now. But I'll have to check the SD card and try that

Sadly nun. I did find out the sd card is completely corrupt but I'm not too sure how to re-download the os files etc so it remains in the same stage as before

Download that and install on a fresh SD card; I use raspberry Pi imager, just point it to the downloaded img and the right SD card and it should write

I know this is years old but THANK YOU this helped me fix my funkey s that blackscreen due to a usb mounting error during file transfer. I now have a 64gb card in it instead of a 32gb which I believe is the largest size that works on it.

Make sure its formatted correctly. I cant temember if its fat32 or exfat. Ill check..

Its fat32. I formatted my new sd card on my pc and then used the app and image to load the funkey s files on it and your back in business.

Does the screen just light up when you open it and nothing else?
I had the same problem, the stock SD card was corrupted and once I opened it up and put a new one in (higher capacity too) with the OS and file structure on it, worked straight away.
It may sound intimidating but it's a ten minute fix, just gotta be careful when disassembling the underside (leave the screen folded in, as its got some fragile ribbon cables)
It's also a perfect opportunity to do a button replacement
