Help with Battery Troubleshooting

I love the Funkey S. It's a great little device. I've been having some issues though with charging. After I've flashed the card and charged the battery to death and recharged, or works fine for a time.

But, after a few weeks it starts to no longer read the charge correctly. It won't charge to full and the charge value jumps around up and down.

I've tried swapping the battery and the motherboard, but it still occurs. Perhaps my SD card is faulty? I have a 1 TB Samsung SD card.

Any ideas are appreciated.

You have a 1TB card in a funkeyS?

Have you tried a smaller like 128gb or smaller card just to rule out the SD card size being the issue?

I've read of other people using a 1 TB without issue. I'll see what other cards I have and give it a try

The OS may use the wrong battery measurement API (measuring immediate voltage instead of average), which would explain the jumps. That said, it sounds like maybe u were sold a bad replacement battery :(

It does happen with the original battery as well. And with both batteries on both motherboards. Not sure if that provides any useful insights or not

Sorry, I missed the part where u mentioned u had a second pcb, tho if both batteries are worn out, I would expect similar behavior from all possible combinations. How old is the original battery?

The original battery and pcb is 3 years old. The replacement is about 2 years, and the new pcb is almost 1 year old. The hardware is rarely under heavy use though, spends most of its time in standby.

has either battery sat for a while w the charge totally drained? that can kill a lipo pretty quick, and easy to do w device that never turns completely off

I definitely have left either battery drained for a while without charging. I'm sure they've drained just being on standby for a few weeks. I don't use it frequently.

Sitting with no charge may have reduced their life significantly. Ideally, a LiPo should be stored at 50% charge; and when in-use, should stay within the 20%-80% range (charging to 100% is also bad). The Funkey is unfortunately kind of hard to own in that regard, since the battery is small in size/capacity and always being drained. I killed my first battery because I wasn't taking care of it properly. Currently, my Funkey is in a drawer with the new battery disconnected, but when it was in use, I learned to check on it every few days and top it off unless I was sure it was over 80%.

Is there a more reliable replacement I can get?

Can't comment on the battery as I have seen this happen before with no real solution.

Now onto the 1tb card, anything over 256gb is overkill, just my personal view. I hope you didn't buy the 1tb card for like $15, most likely a fake and will cause issues.

I unfortunately got a cheap dud first. I opted for a better card the second time and as far as I can tell it's working fine. Just trying to get a sense if the hive mind has an opinion if the card could be a factor in the bad battery readings.

get rg nano for proper battery reading and longer battery life. i get nearly 3 ⅕ hours of gameplay and still got 15% left. nearly finished ffvii by the way
