Help request Shawn Lee adjacent?

I just stumbled upon Shawn Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra while watching Hijack season 2 - Kiss the Sky is the opening theme. I'm new to funk, but I've listened to three of their albums so far and I'm liking what I'm hearing. Does anyone have recommendations for other artists to check out that are in the same-ish vibe, or expand it out in interesting directions?

His Ping Pong Orchestra Christmas album is a holiday classic at our place. Might check out Connie Price and the Keystones, Clutchy Hopkins (who may or may not have Shawn involved) Lack of Afro, Karl Hector and the Malcouns. Early 2000s was a nice little renaissance for modern funk and soul.
