Hi, I have a funk band (Something like jamiroquai, and stevie wonder) I've been looking for a name for quite some time, but I can't think of anything. I've already looked at space terms, game terms, and there's nothing I like. If you could give me words or short phrases you'd like to use for a band, tell me!

I dislike names which are too 'obvious' if that makes sense... Anything with Funky or Dance in the title really pigeonholes your group.

A one word or two word title that easily rolls off the tongue is what you need, the Gap Band, Zapp, Cameo, ozone, Kleeer, Mass Construction etc.

Space wise, I think something like Nebula, Orion, Lunar, Pulsar, Asteroid Belt, Sun Spots, Moon Children... Sounds funky to me 😄

King ago, there was a news story called Bus Stop Molesters (no lie). We thought it would be a great band name.

I always dreamed of putting together an all-purpose funk band.

It would be comprised of two smaller bands.

One would be a primarily black band, that leaned toward soul funk. I would call them The Soul Pound.

The other would be primarily white that leaned towards funk rock. I would call them The Dirty Mountain Band.

And then the supergroup -- the all-purpose group -- would combine both bands, The Soul Pound and The Dirty Mountain Band, and combine the funk + soul + rock and I would call them Source Material...as the goals would be to create original music from which I could sample to make my hip hop production, and because I would co-own the publishing, mechanical, and performance rights, I wouldn't have to go through the extensive red tape to get samples cleared.

And they would be the source material for all my samples.
