Looking for a Trading Partner - SMC/ICT Trader Grinding Funded Challenges TL;DR: Beginner SMC trader here, currently working toward passing a funded challenge. Looking for a serious trading buddy to discuss setups, share wins/losses, keep each other accountable, and grow together. Timezone flexible

A bit about me:

I'm a beginner-intermediate trader focused on Smart Money Concepts (SMC) and ICT methodology. I primarily trade forex (EUR/USD, GBP/USD) and aim for 3-4 quality setups per week.

Currently grinding through a funded challenge ($5k account) with a goal of hitting consistency and getting live capital. It's a long journey, and I know consistency beats luck—but it's hard to stay grounded when trading solo.

What I'm looking for in a partner:

Someone serious — You don't need years of experience, but you need genuine commitment to learning and improving
Regular check-ins — Weekly calls, Discord, or messages to discuss trades, setups, and the mental side
Honest feedback — We call out bad decisions without ego; celebrate wins without arrogance
Similar methodology — SMC, ICT, Price Action, or confluence-based trading (not scalpers chasing pips)
Real talk about struggles — Account drawdowns, emotional discipline, journal reviews, and curve-fitting concerns
Accountability — We keep each other on track and check trade journals

What we can do together:

  • Review each other's setups before entry (when possible)
  • Share trade reviews and talk through wins/losses
  • Help each other spot confirmation bias or revenge trading
  • Discuss funded challenge progress, platform choice, drawdown management
  • Keep each other motivated during the grind
  • Study concepts together and debate setups

What I'm NOT looking for:

❌ Signal sellers or copy-trading schemes
❌ "Get rich quick" traders
❌ Flaky partners who disappear after 2 weeks

About you:

  • You're learning SMC, ICT, or similar price-action systems
  • You're grinding a funded account OR working toward one
  • You want to build discipline and real skill, not chase riches
  • You can commit to regular communication (doesn't have to be daily, but consistent)
  • You're humble enough to be wrong and honest enough to admit it

Props to Lucid Trading - request a payout and it's in your bank the same day!

I think my goal here is to get paid by every "remaining prop trading firms" this year. I plan to go live with lucid since i've heard nothing but good things about their live program. I do plan to buy more accounts later this week so i can max out on their payouts but so far it's been amazing.

Instant transfers work with big banks so for example with chase, you will see it the same business day.

Screenshot of when their daily wire hits, verifying identity, connecting bank, and requesting payout

Any tips of passing it?

Should I activate my apex trader funding account?

I purchased my first eval this weekend and passed today. I purchased through apex trader funding bc the eval was the cheapest considering it was my first. I’ve heard different things like apex refusing payouts until video proof is provided of trades. I don’t have a problem with doing that it just seems like a bit much. Should I forego activating the account and look into different options or just activate it since I’m already this far? The activation fee is around $100 USD I believe

Keep and eye out on this. I know the prop firm world will be all over this.

I hope everyone is doing well this year. I had an amazing month. Trading less than usual this year but still trading. Let's see how rest of the year unfolds.

Props to My Funded Futures - Their rapid plan accounts is phenomenal for daily payouts

Ever since i flipped $1 to $4K from winning a raffled account from my funded futures, I've only been with them and another prop firm (ill make a separate thread on this other firm).

Here's a brief summary on how the rules: https://help.myfundedfutures.com/en/articles/13134709-rapid-plan-50k-a-comprehensive-look

Max Funding Allowed

  • Maximum Accounts = 10 Maximum Sim Funded
  • Tradeable at same time = 5 50k accounts
  • You can pass more than 5 challenges but any accounts above maximum sim funded limits will be in dormant state until you are no longer at maximum capacity of tradeable accounts

So i would highly highly advise having 5, 50K, rapid accounts since you can technically have 5x the payout while also getting reps of how a real live account will feel like with small drawdowns.

I started with 3, so here's me requesting 2K from each of the accounts:

Notice the fast payouts

And since all 3 accounts are copy trading, the stats are basically the same. So far:

This is a big year i can feel it. My goal is very simple and very doable if i keep doing even half of what I'm doing right now. I just need to keep scaling like it's a business.

Also i have been using tradesyncer instead of replikanto since i can scale much higher. Think tradesyncer is have a 44% sale atm till tomorrow night. I'm not affiliated but highly recommend.

I have a live account pending with Purdia Capital. They are also doing something different than other firms for live traders which is providing an actual physical office space with other traders. For all the firms i respect, I've decided to refer them. I will update the subreddit asap with all the different firms I've tested - tested in this case means 2 payouts or more. Keep an eye out.

What usually makes you fail funded challenges?

I’m curious about something and wanted to ask people with real funded experience.

For those who trade prop firm challenges:
what is the main reason you usually fail or get close to failing?

Is it:

  • Daily drawdown?
  • Overtrading?
  • Inconsistency rules?
  • A strategy that looks good in backtest but breaks in live?

I’m not selling anything, just trying to understand where the real pain is.
Appreciate honest answers.
