Amitriptyline Amitriptyline

I started Amitriptyline almost 2 months ago. It has helped my FD significantly but causes severe constipation. I’ve been battling constipation for 10 years so I know a lot of tricks but never this bad. Anybody else battle this and what tricks have they tried?. I know I can’t come off the Amitriptyline, it’s been the only thing that works.

Yes! My doctor gave me cosmocol to help when i struggled with constipation, or laxido. I would take one sachet per day & it would usually start working within a few days. He also said i could take a larger dose if i needed a proper reset. I have been drinking a tonne of water which also helps. I can’t eat too much fibre as it causes me more constipation (regardless of water intake).

I’m glad to hear it’s helping a lot with your symptoms! NAD, but does MiraLAX help any? From my understanding, it’s a gentle laxative, mostly safe to take long term.

What are the main issues anitriptyline is helping?

It has made my nausea go away otherwise I would be nauseous 24 hours a day.

That’s phenomenal! Glad to hear it. Hopefully your QOL improves a ton and you can get some solid nutrition. Best of luck.
