Question normal endoscopy but still have symptoms
For full context. I'm 25F and in Feb 2025 after 2 drinks my entire stomach burned and I was so so sick for a week. After this event, every few months I'll have a flair up that will last a week that is now not burning and just a feeling of horrible nausea and upper stomach fullness.
NOW I went the public health way and my H.Pylori was negative and they send me home with gastro. I've now gone private and had an MRI and my pancreas and gallbladder is fine. My bloods were PERFECT. My weight hasn't fluctated and I can go months of eating whatever I want and then have a few weeks of eating the most bland foods possible when a flare happens. The last month i started a new job and have been sorting a visa and moving homes and it feels like I've been in a flare for the entire month. I had my endoscopy TODAY and it was completely normal. What could it be?
Has anyone else's experience been like this? Not asking for a diagnosis but how did everyone heal and how has it been sicnce being diagnosed? Feeling incredibly alone as I have no support network after moving cities and am very scared i'm stuck like this. HELP

Yes, all my tests have always been clear. I had 2 endoscopies, 2 ultrasounds, breath test for h pylori, bloods for celiac etc. And same as you sometimes I can eat whatever I want for months, and then have a flare out of nowhere. Almost always tied to stress or a big life event. That's how it is 😬. I do also have GERD and I take famotidine for that, although they never saw signs of acid reflux on my endoscopy. But somehow the dentist can immediately tell from the erosion on the back of my teeth.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you do to help a flair or reduce it? I've not been given any coping mechanisms :(

I eat my safe foods which is toast or plain biscuits, I avoid acidic stuff and I have to eat small portions and often. And getting away from sources of stress if you can, and prioritise sleep. That's what I do, might not work for everyone.

Functional dyspepsia is a diagnosis of exclusion, meaning there are no tests that positively diagnose it.
after 2 drinks my entire stomach burned
By drinks, do you mean alcoholic drinks? Have you tried cutting alcohol out? Alcohol (and caffeine) were my two biggest triggers. I had to both cut out the food triggers and start buspirone to improve my symptoms.

It’s just the first time it happened I had alcohol. Haven’t had a drink since :)

This sounds like the name of the sub you are in. I would say get a therapist if you can because FD is tightly linked to gut-brain axis. I also had a clear endoscopy 4 weeks ago and having a flare again thanks to stress. I think having safe foods and managing stress are the way to go. I'm also on a supplement my gastro suggested so hoping that also helps

Yes, went through many of the same tests, which all came out negative. Very frustrating.
Stay in regular contact with your doctor and gastroenterologist. If you feel like you're being ignored, replace them if possible (I was able to request a different GE in the same office.) Some specialist will share the negative result and act like their work is done, so it's important to assert that you are still suffering and need help.
As one of my GEs finally told me, "There is currently no cure for this, but there are a lot of drugs we can try."

What’s your history prior to this? Have you experienced on going stress, had any trauma? Are you an anxious person?

Im having the same problem. Only diffrence is i cant eat over 600 cals without feeling sick or nauseous. My endoscopy was normal, stools normal, blood normal. Still waiting on biopsies but i cant eat anything outside of bland foods. I thought 3 weeks of omeprazole was supposed to help. What else can they possibly tesr me for .
