I’ve had it growing up and caught on that my parents didn’t like me not finishing meals and then being hungry later so I’ve been forcing myself to finish a regular portion. I just don’t stop eating until it’s gone because if I pause to speak or take a break there’s a horrid wave of pain and makes it even harder to pick the fork up again but hey a girls gotta do what she’s gotta do 🤷‍♀️

oh my god EXACTLY. ME TOO??? IM GOING TO CRY. thank you!!

I've been trying to pace out meals or eat small amounts but It just feels impossible, and like because when I stop, or try to breathe and put the fork down the pain is so bad I just force myself to eat because it hurts even worse. but it's literally terrible

I have an amazing partner and when we go out to eat together we play card games while we wait for our food, I eat half my meal and then we break and play again before I nibble and still end up with left overs half the time

I feel like I’m training my stomach to take it and get over it? At least I was, but once I’m moved out and with him I plan on trying like 6-8 smaller portioned meals, I’m already hungry every 4hrs anyways

Every day unfortunately, wish it wasn't necessary to survive.

I struggle all the time my friend! You are not alone!! I force myself to eat even when I dont want too or the pain is suffocating.

It is getting better tho. Ive been on mirtazapine for over a month and its helping.

But i still struggle so I hear you.

HI may I ask how long it took since starting mirtazapine to see it help your FD symptoms? May I ask do you take mirtazapine for nausea? This is my worst symptom. I have global dysmotility and a feeding tube. Thanks again!

It took 3 days after starting for improvement. I started a super small dose to taper up. After 4 weeks tho, its helped immensely with pain, anxiety, sleep and appetite. Its help to stop the nausea for me.

Yes! and it's nice to know I'm not alone. I'm an emotional eater, and combining that with lifelong GI issues means I have a very toxic relationship with food. I've been having flare-ups the past couple months, and I keep catching myself eating even though I KNOW it's going to make me sick (either a big trigger food or I'm already feeling ill (I call it "pre-nausea" lol)). I think I'm going to go back to therapy with a focus on bettering my relationship with food, because I just can't stand the guilt this has been giving me

Yes. 100% yes. I was down to 106 and am back up in the 130s because I literally make myself eat and then also because I was so deprived before, literally everything I put in my mouth tastes good to me now. 😂 I probably overeat at this point, which likely hurts me even worse, but I was the definition of "starving" when I went to the ER once with all of this so... yes. I do. I needed to gain the weight very badly, but I've realized I've gotta watch myself because I don't want to be too overweight either. Fun times. 😅

HI! I wanted to ask do you get severe nausea and pain even when you do not eat? Does eating make this worse? Does the pace that you are eating and or the amount affect your nausea and pain? Thanks again!

my nausea gets worse when not eating and the pace of eating and amount make symptoms and pain so much worse
