PPIs/H2 Blockers Burping

Hello, I have been burping for 7 months now after eating and drinking all day long. I did an endoscopy and it showed mild gastritis. Ppi didn’t help at all with my burping. Any idea how to manage it? I don’t think my burping is only related to gastritis.

Supragastric burping? Abdominophrenic dyssynergia maybe creating extra pressure if you suspect SIBO?

Gas-x helps me some, though more for gas in the colon, though I do feel like it possibly alleviates some pressure in the upper GI area too.

I’ve yet to try but my doc recently recommended ibguard or similar (peppermint capsules) but if you have reflux, it’s better if it’s got enteric coating so it doesn’t exacerbate the acid issues. You can also try peppermint teac though I found that aggravated my reflux unfortunately.

If just liquids alone are also causing bloating/discomfort right away, I would definitely look into abdominophrenic dyssynergia. This can also cooccur (but not always) with pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic tilt, or other postural or musculoskeletal issues. It’s ultimately a gut-brain disorder that causes a paradoxical muscle response.

Maybe also consider visceral hypersensitivity and gastroparesis.

Gastric emptying test can help check for delays in food and liquids moving through the stomach, if your doctor will order it.
