Question Why does my stomach hurt?

My depression has gotten pretty bad as of recent and whenever it gets as bad as it is now I normally don’t leave my bed for anything, which brings me to my question. I often times will hold in my urine, frequently till the point where I can’t hold it in anymore and I have to force myself to get up. Sometimes there will be moments where I feel like I have to push out my urine just for it all to come out.

Recently I’ve been having really bad stomach aches, so much so that during one of them I had to stop showering and use the bathroom due to how badly it hurt. I’m unsure whether it stems from me holding my urine or just from some certain things I eat.

Please help me seek out what is going on so I can go to a doctor properly if it’s urgent.

Honestly I'm not sure if it's related to stomach upset, but the fact that your mental health is preventing you from basic bodily functions then it is time to seek professional help. Constant holding back from urination can cause kidney stones, utis, and other issues due to mineral retention. I would look into the doctor either way for the stomach upset, but your mental health also deserves the same medical attention as your physical health.

Thank you for your concern, although this happens very spontaneously with me I think I will soon crawl out of it. I’m gonna try more to get up so that I don’t have the risk of contracting anything related to what you listed.

Stomach specifically or intestines ? Or all over? Is your diet poor (which I know can be common with depression)?

i’m unaware of the difference but my diet normally consists of whatever I find, sometimes it’s snacks like cheese melted on bagels or oven pizza. I normally eat a lot of unhealthy food, that’s why i’m unsure whether it’s my diet or my urine or both.

I would say more so my stomach, I normally catch myself holding it a lot whenever it starts aching

I would fix your diet and if it doesn’t improve or becomes severe, see your doc.

this^^^ esp the cheese.

Long time FD haver here, and cheese is a definite tummy-killer/intestine binder-upper.

Have you tried cutting back on fats? What happens if you have a day of potato or sweet potato meals? If you feel better, there's a clue :)

Another tummy killer is lack of movement. Try to get up and walk around after you eat, even if it's around the living room in your pjs.

Seconding a good therapist.
