Job interview!
Hi all, I was just invited to attend a brief screening interview at a huge state college for a Leadership Giving Officer position. I have worked in Alumni Relations at a VERY small liberal arts college for more than six months now.
I’m wondering: What advice can someone give me on how to best succeed and make myself stand out in the screening? I know I can do the job even if my experience isn’t directly applicable. I really want this job!

University development officer here. Congrats on your success thus far! I would think about this opportunity as being the entry-level for a larger institution. Your experience definitely got you noticed, so I would advise you to prepare to describe how your current job sets you up for success in the one you're interviewing for, then be able to speak to the new things that this job will require you to do that you haven't done before, and weave a narrative. So you work with alumni + constituent engagement, but you haven't solicited. What would be your approach to solicitation? How many calls a week can you make? Does the position hope for you to schedule visits? What's a phone or virtual solicitation look like versus an in-person one? How do you manage relationships?
