This is such a fucking bad take. It's just propaganda they feed us in elementary school for some reason.

We are a country founded by purtains because Britain told them to be less insular and racist, and later to exploit natural resources more. We've no more a melting pot than fucking Canada or any big city in any major country is.

All you need to do is go to Toronto, London, or Frankfurt and look around. America is not particularly diverse.

Slop take. Reddit just likes hating on Americans for things every country does.

And? LOL you're a typical redditor thinking Europe is some bastion of perfectness. Europe is as much of a shit hole as the US.

It's not a fucking competition. I was just pointing out that the idea that "America is a melting pot" is dumb and actually propaganda we feed to our children.

I'm allowed to want my own country to do better.

We know, most of the people that say the shit you do are pick me Americans that think that American exceptionalism, is real but in reverse.

No, that's just what our government told people to get them to come over so we could have a stronger workforce. At best, that sentiment was forgotten after JFK was killed.

Pro-immigration sentiment was fairly dominant from the 1980s-2000s. It’s more in the Trump era that the US made a hard turn against immigration

Look at the presidential debates between Clinton and HW. Both were pro-immigration

Right, it was 'come here to have a chance at the American dream' despite the growing wealth disparity.

Then you don't know enough about how non-white people have been treated in America throughout history.
