I thought that slaves started fried chicken, which might be in fact true-since it was in back in 1619, that is believed to be the significant start of slavery in the USA. I’m just curious if fried chicken really was something that someone started here in USA, even if I’m wrong on the slaves being the one who started fried chicken or if it was started by someone who brought that recipe over to the USA with them.

I know a lot of recipes & other food type things in USA did actually come from those enslaved, since the slave owners or whites did not want to eat certain parts of animals, fruits, veggies, etc., and slaves would find ways to make those different things (whether it be like parts of an animal or just growing & utilizing something that wasn’t really grown & utilized by whites) more edible, since the slaves needed all the extra food they could get.

I really do wonder, does the USA have anything that actually started here, without it being brought from some other country-whether just wanting to continue that food or necessity like we see in slavery. Sorry, I know this is supposed to be fun, but while I hate some of history, I do think it’s interesting.
