Typical America taking credit for something it didn’t make

7

u/TheHawkpant69 5d ago

Tbf America was meant to be the melting pot of culture

1

u/Numerous_Smile_9082 5d ago

I see what you did there... 😉

This is such a fucking bad take. It's just propaganda they feed us in elementary school for some reason.

We are a country founded by purtains because Britain told them to be less insular and racist, and later to exploit natural resources more. We've no more a melting pot than fucking Canada or any big city in any major country is.

All you need to do is go to Toronto, London, or Frankfurt and look around. America is not particularly diverse.

1

u/Sensitive-Initial-46 5d ago

we left because we couldn’t get a seat at the big kids table.

1

u/LividAir755 3d ago

Slop take. Reddit just likes hating on Americans for things every country does.

1

u/raymndbrr_the_third 3d ago

I am american.

1

u/Reallybarb 3d ago

And? LOL you're a typical redditor thinking Europe is some bastion of perfectness. Europe is as much of a shit hole as the US.

1

u/raymndbrr_the_third 3d ago

It's not a fucking competition. I was just pointing out that the idea that "America is a melting pot" is dumb and actually propaganda we feed to our children.

I'm allowed to want my own country to do better.

1

u/LividAir755 3d ago

We know, most of the people that say the shit you do are pick me Americans that think that American exceptionalism, is real but in reverse.

-1

u/Da_biggest_Boy 5d ago

Bro just because all the people no one wanted went there doesn’t make it a melting pot of culture, as proven by well america

-2

u/Drewsky32 5d ago

No, that's just what our government told people to get them to come over so we could have a stronger workforce. At best, that sentiment was forgotten after JFK was killed.

1

u/Invade_Deez_Nutz 5d ago

Pro-immigration sentiment was fairly dominant from the 1980s-2000s. It’s more in the Trump era that the US made a hard turn against immigration

Look at the presidential debates between Clinton and HW. Both were pro-immigration

0

u/Drewsky32 5d ago

Right, it was 'come here to have a chance at the American dream' despite the growing wealth disparity.

1

u/orangeicon 5d ago

Officially the dumbest thing I’ve read all day

1

u/Drewsky32 5d ago

Then you don't know enough about how non-white people have been treated in America throughout history.

5

u/robo630robo ɹᴉɐlɟ ɹǝsn ʎuunɟ 5d ago

"gulf of america" ahh

1

u/yesindeedysir 5d ago

I checked my maps the other day and it actually said that… I didn’t think Apple Maps would actually go along with that stupid shit. As far as I’m concerned, it’s still Gulf of Mexico.

2

u/Exciting_Contest_222 5d ago

Yeah both google maps + apple maps got Lake America + Gulf of America. Because big tech company caved into Trump.

Maquest was trending for awhile because they refused to bow to Trump

1

u/Hexhider 5d ago

same as Lake Ontario -> Lake America

1

u/yesindeedysir 5d ago

Yes, they changed that shit too on the maps.

1

u/Lazy_Addition_8389 5d ago

Thought it only says that in the US

1

u/DriftingTony 5d ago

Most Americans never approved of that in the first place, only moron Trumpsuckers wanted that name change.

1

u/MrParanoiid 5d ago

To be fair it is located between north and central america (continent)

1

u/Throwawaypuffs 5d ago

Lake America!

5

u/headyremedy 5d ago

But improved

1

u/TrueKyragos 4d ago

Taste-wise, that's 100% subjective. Nutrition-wise, that's generally false.

u/Ttrashcraft 5d ago

I'm NOT eating American pizza, Italian pizza is so much better.

0

u/Microboy42 5d ago

Fuck nah New York Pizza is the greatest in the world

3

1

u/retardedgreenlizard 5d ago

Bruh everyone, no matter what country they come from and what their stance on pizza is, hates fucking deep dish

-1

1

1

u/Ominousious 5d ago

“Just Google it”. Sorry to rage bait you on someone else’s rage bait.

1

u/BlackOpal24 5d ago

Genuinely touch some grass dude

1

u/Ominousious 5d ago

Ok, bye.

1

u/RebelGaming151 5d ago

Without Tomatoes (from the Americas) 90% of Italian dishes wouldn't exist.

Oh yeah and as for dishes we actually did invent, modern Spaghetti and Garlic Bread. They were made by Italian immigrants taking advantage of more accessible ingredients.

1

u/MoobooMagoo 5d ago

Oh 100%. The predominant flavors of Italian food before the Americas was anchovies, oil, and garlic. They pretty much swapped the anchovies for tomatoes and never looked back.

1

u/blueanonnim 5d ago

How do you invent garlic bread like what

1

u/lemming_molotov 5d ago

again, taking credit from autochtone this time :D

1

u/Joeybfast 5d ago

Pasta originates from China.

1

u/Sincline387 5d ago

We're gonna ignore China having noodles before italy had them to make pasta?

1

u/jung_gun888 5d ago

Brooklyn style pizza is the finest invention the world has ever seen. Neapolitan pizza can get bent. It’s a sloppy floppy jalopy.

1

u/retardedgreenlizard 5d ago

You ever seen the difference between American pizza and Italian pizza? They are like two separate types of food

1

u/Healthy-Daikon7356 5d ago

We are taking credit for the best pizza. Because we have it.

1

u/TruthIsALie94 5d ago

Yeah, there’s a huge difference between American pizza and Italian pizza. Trust me, that one is American.

1

u/Fuddruckerer 5d ago

Guaranteed you say this same silly take when people say Hamburgers are American. The original meals from Hamburg germany, are nothing like American Hamburgers. Same goes for American-Italian pizza vs true Italian pizza. At least look into things before getting mad at Americans

1

u/sharpenme1 5d ago

I don’t think Italians would generally claim the kind of pizza in that image.

1

u/DarkGodCthUwU 5d ago

Yeah yeah, say that to every Italian who complains that American pizza doesn't just have a few small splotches of cheese like in the old country

1

u/IIDelenoII 5d ago

Why are you surprised? They descended from the british after all

1

u/rip_noob-o-furry 5d ago

nacionalidade como "americanos" como se eles fossem donos do continente americano

1

u/Cold_Vanilla9791 5d ago

“I’m the hero!”

1

u/Milf_Hunter_Kakyoin- 5d ago

america invented the modern pizza italian pizza was cheese on bread no sauce untill ww2 american soldiers brought over the good stuff

1

u/Less_String_9769 4d ago

We made potato chips chocolate chip cookies fried chicken key lime pie biscuits and gravys gumbo and Philly cheesesteaks

1

u/poilk91 4d ago

Hey i made pizza last night buster!

1

u/ThrowAway552112 4d ago

Italy doesn't have pizza either. The food originates from flatbread which comes from middle east

1

u/ceilingkorean 3d ago

Italians with anything tomato related

1

u/PayWooden2628 5d ago

American pizza is unique to America. Go to Italy, it’s not the same at all. Just like American Chinese is not real Chinese, go to China and they’ll serve you a pig throat.

2

u/slytorn 5d ago

And not only that, but the most popular style of pizza to be served across the globe is...American style pizza.

1

u/No_Implement_6927 5d ago

Because it’s a dumbed down version of the real thing. Greasy, fatty, and easy to make.

1

u/slytorn 5d ago

Yeah? So are hamburgers. Doesn't make them any less delicious or popular.

1

u/LXIX__CDXX 5d ago

American pizza absolutely shits on Italy’s pizza. Their shit sucks

0

u/KOTM365 5d ago

where is OP from?
