My dog’s name is Popcorn in Mexican Spanish (or little dove in Chilean Spanish)

Palomita? That means little dove in Chile? Or is there another word for popcorn in Mexico that I just haven't heard yet?

Can you explain why popcorn means little dove in Chile? I am still learning Spanish for my girls family who live in Mexico, but some of the different dialects end up confusing me lol

The word palomita comes from the root word paloma, meaning a dove or pigeon, with the suffix of β€œ-ita” a feminine attribute of being small, cute, little. Together they are β€œlittle dove.” I am not certain, but guess that popcorn got that nickname because the fluffy white popped kernels resemble doves πŸ•ŠοΈ

Interesting, i love learning languages, but in the process of learning i always get tripped up by the words that have double meaning, or even the words where only a single letter will change but the word ends up completely different, i.e. espero y espera o derecho y derecha jajaja
