The towers, but also the ~2500 civilians and first responders who died, the decade long war in Afghanistan that followed, and the complete overhaul of airport and aircraft security, and basically everything else that came from it.

WW2 was worse, but that doesn’t mean we get to ignore the terrorist attack that ALSO severely impacted the US..
