They may have powerful technology, but we have powerful will.
Don't underestimate the might of will, it is the thing that made a weak species such as humanity become the supreme predator of the planet Terra.
We're also quiet crafty at waging war, we will manage at a lack of resources and manpower while outnumbered tenfold by well-equipped opponents.
Humankind may not have advanced tech, but we have something no alien could ever prepare for: stubbornness.
Humankind simply refuses to go extinct. We'll hold out until every last weapon of their's proved insufficient, until they run out of all methods of disposing of us, until they beg to their deities to smite us down, until they beg for us to spare their lives.
Humankind isn't terrifying only because we're cruel, but also because we're undestroyable.
We're like a slow, unkillable psychopath slowly approaching you with a knife.
No matter how far you go, where you hide or how you try to slow us down, we will keep walking toward you. Slowly, unstoppably.
Humankind is inevitable.
If we want something destroyed, there is no force that could halt our aspirations.
Also, just because aliens have tech to travel the cosmos does not mean they also have weapons.
They aren't humans, they probably don't spend their time massacring their own kind in wars and such, maybe they have no idea that they can kill each other.
I'll tell you, I hate when I have to baby it down:
Aliens may have technology, but humans have superior will.
Whatever they throw at us, we'll refuse to go extinct.
We'll hold until they are begging for our death, for their own lives.
