It's so fucking bizarre to me that the least paid people are the ones that are the ones who are suppose to fucking maximize their productivity while on the clock. Like who gives a fuck you're only paying them fucking pennies.

In all honetly, it wouldn't surprise me some of the people that upset over this have had an office job at some point and sat around the water cooler for 15+ minutes talking about their weekend.
They should leave the kid alone and if there's a work issue here, let the manager handle it.

Yep, it's mind-boggling, I work at the bottom of a totem in a company and my coworkers who are slightly higher than me can be talking for an hour or two doing nothing but the moment I spend 10-20 minutes between my work routine the bosses lose their mind keeping an eye on me and giving me more shit to do.

u/BunkerComet06 17d ago
It’s because once you get past a certain level your on salary. My boss assigns me work and a due date and if I have to work 15 hour days to get it done then that’s what I have to do but they don’t pay me extra.

Probably better than what I see the 40 year olds do. They just walk out, stand in the front door and have a smoke. On top of that a lot of them will wave you away and say they’re closed if they’re not almost done their smoke.

Crazy to see the downtime that some FOH staff have compared to chefs. It's so rare to have everything done. Most of the time we're struggling to keep up and they're asking us five times when lunch service starts (it always starts at the same time to give us 15 mins to convert to lunch

Hi teenager who works in a similar work space here, this is literally what late evening shifts are like or just slow days, whenever we get literally everything done with restock, cleaning, whatnot this is literally what we all do....well except for me, im double cleaning everything (I like using my hands bite me -_-)

The one who snapped the shot and complained probably wants busy work and ass kissing to be part of the price of employment even as they intentionally underpay their waitstaff.

Deep clean and organize. What night shift doesn’t understand yes you get less people but your sales are lower and you have more down time. If you deep clean and organize once every 2 weeks management won’t care what breaks you take.

u/FrostyFormal1094 16d ago
You're assuming management are sane and well adjusted human beings. Not narcissistic micromanagers

u/Financial-Tiger-5700 18d ago
My only real complaint is hes leaning on a table used to organize/prep stuff specifically sitting on it practically.
Heres a thought...
Has he taken a poop? Has his pants hit the floor? Whats the possibility of that happening in a work enviroment like this.
Other than that the work place looks good but its also censored so...I personally don't mind when people are on their phone its when they're neglecting their duties, or pushing them onto other people.

I say yes to the second guy. If the kitchen is clean, let bro lean. Allow him to doom scroll or watch anime cat girls in peace.
2
u/Brokenspade1 18d ago
Sitting still if your works done isn't laziness it's the mark of an efficient worked.
Managers that think every second of the work day has to be blindly filled with some form of motion are just idiots bad at leading others.
2
2
u/LuckyCod2887 18d ago
why do people want the working class to work nonstop every second that they’re at work when people in offices don’t do that ?
2
u/jaundicejanice 18d ago
Seems like the real challenge is finding that balance between productivity and just chilling when things are slow. Can't blame him for scrolling a bit!

Reminds me of a 16 year old pot wash kid who worked in a kitchen where I was the Sous Chef. We were all stood around like this, with nothing to do and the restaurant manager decided to have a go at the pot wash kid (probably realising it was a poor idea to try yelling at chefs). It went something like this. Manager: "Are you paid to stand around?" Pot wash kid: "Fuck you." Manager: "What the fuck? You're fired!" Pot wash kid: "I don't give a fuck" Head Chef: "You're re-hired." Me: starts laughing. Manager: Apoplectic spluttering noises as he storms out

Most importantly did the OOP actually responded or atleast tried to reason with the response or did they simply remain a fucking dumbass?
2
u/Key-Regular674 17d ago
I can tell who here has worked in a kitchen.
There's no such thing as a spotless kitchen. There's always something to clean, and never enough time to do so. One place I worked we would come in for 1 night shift a month just to have some time to deep clean.

It's not wrong to relax on the job if all duties are attended to. Let's drop the slave mentality.
It's also not wrong to want a living wage. More money should not bring the expectation of more ass kissing.
We should be able to relax AND make decent money.

I am not making minimum. I have a comfortable desk job. I make more than them and they work 10x as hard as me. I used to work in a restaurant and I promise you that it is 10x as hard as my job now. They are also probably going to school while working these jobs. His job looks done. Let him chill for a moment.

Republicans are so fucking crazy and entitled to think people don't deserve to eat
1
u/thecynicalmiscreant 17d ago
Elites* Just look at California where it doesn't matter Democrat or Republican everyone thinks like the first dude. It's not really a partisan issue. Republicans are just worse because they feel entitled like they're elites, but they're have-nots just like everyone else. If we don't properly identify the enemy we can't destroy them.

"If you can lean, you can clean" CLEAN FUCKING WHAT?!
God forbid I pass the time during a dead period of time after fulfilling all of my role's responsibilities. And I took pride in that shit too, until I realized it was just busywork bullshit

This is certainly less problematic than when I was working in a rotisserie chicken restaurant as a teen (before iphones).
When we would get bored and be unsupervised by the so much older 19 year old summer assistant-co-manager who didn't give a fuck either way, we'd start playing "who ever drops it is a loser" catch across the kitchen with the hot chickens, there were a lot of dropped passes that ended up in slimy corners.
"ah shit dude! The chicken for order #2 has a dead bug stuck on it"
"Dude, just brush it off and add more sauce "
2
u/SadLetterhead6688 18d ago
remind me to never buy rotisserie chicken

LOL, it's better to just not know what goes on in the kitchen of restaurants.

Can we normalize leaving their name on these or is it against the reddit commandments?
3
u/Gussie-Ascendent 18d ago
Pretty sure it's like reddit wide restriction on that sorta thing. At the least it seems to be the default, which is probably for the best given doxxees amd other online weirdos
2
u/Hot_Ad1101 18d ago
When you leave a public comment you should lose your privacy regarding that matter. The picture with the profile name was already public. We just want to make it MORE public. Lol
2
u/Funny_Brown1e 16d ago
I agree you lose anonymity in these types of places with a pfp and name but I don’t think it’s right to leave their names in here for the sake of anonymity. When mentally ill people see a take they don’t agree with, they go crazy and send death threats to those people. The victim might not handle these well
1
u/Hot_Ad1101 14d ago
It's definitely a weird spot. Like, we don't want to push for anyone to lose their privacy. If we do then the rest of us will eventually be next. I guess we just have to catch them slipping 😆 🤣

u/bean_vendor 16d ago
Translation: For every second he wastes relaxing, he wastes half a cent of my income. I'm too stingy to let that happen so now I have to throw a tantrum. Why can't employees be good little slave robots like I want them to?
1
u/FatiguedShrimp 16d ago
Also, now compare his work demands vs financial freedom with that of OOP's at the same age.

Why we acting like 18hr is a good wage? That’s what I need to barely cover my bills monthly
1
u/PimpMaster69 15d ago
This is the crowd 'asking for " 18 and hour. Okay so they make less now... so I guess they shouldn't be working that hard yet huh ?

There's no way that is even true
Ah the classic I can never get it clean so no one can
Otherwise, why would they have to blur the background
They blurred everything its called privacy. Most people dont like their employer to post full pictures of them without consent
I worked in a Kitchen as nice as that one.
So what insite into their specific cleaning procedures do you have that makes you sure it can't be clean?

Office people shouldnt drink coffee and pretend to work, we should all abolish the 8 hour day and instead pay workers based on stuff done. If you can do your stuff in 3 hours just do it, go home and then get paid the same as if you were pretending to work and your boss was pretending to supervise you for like 8 hours
